That's right. It could have a hole in it, but more likely, it could come off during intercourse.

They pretty much always work. If you use it properly for a full year you have between 1-3% chance of getting your partner pregnant.
Many people get this wrong and think its only 97% effective for one time. 97% Effectiveness on the box is actually data over the course of one full year, so for a one time incident the humber is actually much higher than 99%.
If you use it right it can be even more effective:
* Put it on IMMEDIATELY when you get wood
* Leave some space at the top
* Lubricate the outside thoroughly to prevent breakage and friction.
* Buy them with the newest expiration date possible and store them in a cool, dry place, not in your pocket, not in your car in the summer...
* Use a new one EVERY TIME you have sex
* Hold the bottom when you are pulling out.
They are amazingly effective and CRITICAL for safe sex. Too many people have their own anti-sex agenda and want to pretend like condoms are less effective than they really are. If you use it properly every time you WILL be safe.

True. Condoms can break, slip off and they can deteriorate with age or poor storage - especially if the guy keeps them in his wallet.
Although not 100% protection, it's still a good way to stop pregnancy and still the best way to prevent transmission of STDs.

Condoms, as with any birth control, except abstinence, is only 99.99% effective, so there is a chance of it not working.

Only if you do it wrong. Put one on as soon as penis is hard (don't wait until he's coming), tear open pkg carefully, roll on with fingers as far as you can making sure there is room at the end for ejaculate, use a water-based lube (NEVER OIL-BASED especially not VASELINE) and use a new one for each sexual activity.

If you are not using them properly. Yes that's right. Nothing is foolproof, except of course abstinence. But if you are using them properly you should be fine.

they are 97% effective, I'd rather have one then not. just remember, when you have intercourse with someone you're not just sleeping with them, but every person they've ever slept with, and every person they've ever slept with, into infinity, can you vouch for every single person in this list? please, take this seriously, unless trying for a baby with a long term partner. USE A CONDOM!! don't do this harm to yourself.
