We had a psychic come around at work. It was part of a charity drive. We paid $15 for 15 minutes. Half of the money went to the charity.

Everybody agreed that it was the usual mumbo jumbo, but it was fun and people loved to compare notes later (and it was for a good cause).

This psychic claimed that he has been used by the police to find lost children. But none of what he told any of us convinced anybody that he was any more than someone with a good imagination (not that we expected anything more), but at least he could give good stories. And he looked spooky with big, brushy eyebrows, and the lights in the room were slightly dimmed. Oooooo ....

A thing to remember about psychics:

they predict what the outcome would be based upon the exact time of reading and all the things they feel leading up to this prediction. They could predict that you would die in a car wreck tomarrow. As a precaution, you buckle your seatbelt and drive a little safer that day, and do not die. Was their prediction wrong, or did you avoid what they predicted as a result of what they predicted?

Another thing to remember is they are predicting by certain things already in your life. Let's say you asked if you would have kids. They say yes, and with a tall dark man. As a result you think you are going to have kids with your current boyfriend, but your children are born 10 years from now to another man- also tall and dark.

At every given second situations change, therefore tainting any psychic prediction.

I want to believe there are people who have psychic powers. The police supposedly use them to their advantage is solving some crimes. Or so they lead us to believe on the crime documentaries (Cold Case Files, New Detectives, etc.) on cable television. If what they say is true though, I don't know why the JonBenet Ramsey crime hasn't been solved yet. Where have all the psychics gone?

But I suspect you are asking about people who earn money as fortune tellers rather than people who offer to help the police solve crimes. For those types, the fortune tellers, there are many many warnings made available to the public (especially to old people) cautioning them to avoid such people because they are known to be scammers who will seek to take further advantage of them by using information gleaned from them during the fortune telling experience. For example, if a little old lady asks whether she has to worry about having money in the wall safe she and her husband have in their house, that information can be sold to burglars. And sadly, although those burglars may be interested only in the money, they could end up comitting an unplaned murder during the burglary. Visiting fortune tellers is not a wise thing to do in my humble opinion.

Although I've never asked for a psychic's or fortune-teller's advice, I suppose, many have just for the fun or excitement of it--although I don't understand where the excitement comes from. And because I think fortune-telling is shady, I just couldn't indulge because I would feel like I'm insulting my intelligence.

PS: I just noticed that someone decided your question provided him an opportunity to jump in a preach religion. I caution you to avoid those types too. They will not steal your money; just convince you to give it to them (you know, for God's work). Ha Ha. I view that activity as a legal way to relieve you of your money. You can't put a guy in jail for accepting your donations.

I'll try not to be dim witted. There is no such thing as psychic power. What the best fakers do is called "Cold reading."
They watch your reactions and base their statements on that.
They will also throw out a dozen suggestions...and when one is close, you forget the ones that missed.
Were I to ask...How did you hurt your leg when you were young?
Would I be accurate...or could I change it to Ankle...something on your left side...oh well...you don't remember, you were too young.

As I said...they are ALL phonies...save your money

Yes. Accuracy was a bit of a stretch tho. I saw things, later, that the person didn't but they were talking to me about a future event with no real information except what they read.

I have done Tarot readings for others - I started in college for beer!! lol! - and I've been quite successful in my interpretations.

The discipline is real and it does work.

The things a psychic would say could apply to anyone, or happen to anyone.

But yes… there is energy and knowledge that we cannot see... maybe others can

I sincerely hope you won't give in to the temptation to take this road. God knows your needs, and it would be far better for you to trust Him and seek His will—because His will is always perfect.

Why do I advise you against seeing a fortuneteller? One reason is because you could well be throwing your money away; how do you know this person isn't a fraud? I saw an article a few years ago about the predictions some people had made at the beginning of the new year. They all claimed to be able to foretell the future—but by the end of the year almost none of their predictions had come true!

But you also could be opening yourself to spiritual forces and powers that do not come from God, but from Satan. This is why the Bible tells us to avoid occult practices of any type—including efforts to foretell the future. The Bible warns, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against ... the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). I hope you will take this warning seriously.

Instead, I urge you to turn to Jesus Christ and ask Him to come into your life. God loves you, and Christ died for you. Don't turn down the wrong road, but turn to God and by a simple prayer of faith commit your life and your future to Jesus.
I sincerely hope you won't seek advice from anyone who claims to be able to foretell the future. At best, such claims are fraudulent and you will only be wasting your money; at worst, you could find yourself entangled with occult spiritual powers that will deceive and harm you.

This is why the Bible repeatedly warns us against any type of occult practice. The ancient world was filled with all kinds of superstitions and occult practices, but God's people were warned not to let themselves be influenced by them. The Bible says, "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist, or who consults the dead" (Deuteronomy 18:10-11).

Instead, I urge you to turn to God and seek His will for your future. God loves you; He loves you so much that He sent His only Son into the world to give His life for your salvation. Why not trust your life into His hands? By a simple prayer of faith ask Christ to forgive your past and come into your life today.

Then commit your future into His hands. I can't promise all your problems will suddenly go away—but I do know this: It's far better to face the future with God than without Him. Don't follow the wrong path in life, but follow Christ instead. You'll never regret it.
