You know what, I am glad someone finally had the sense to bring this up...
Only yesterday I was at my local cafe and I struck up this conversation with a beautiful little bran muffin. Not even one minute into the conversation she drifted off into space and left me chatting to the display unit behind her. Now I will admit, I was talking politics, and when I get on a rant I may not be the most interesting, but I found it rather rude she could not pay attention!
So I called her on it... I told her, 'Hey, what's the deal? I know I may not be the most interesting guy in the cafe but at least have decency to listen to what I am saying, I did pay £2.50 for you!'
In the end she did apologize and explained that she had a severe yeast problem and it was really getting her down. She did tell me though that all muffins have a hard time concentrating because they have such a short life span, they go through puberty before they are even out of the oven, and depending on their packaging they are lucky to get through their mid-life crisis before hitting the shelves. Once they hit the shelf they know that death is knocking on their doors and by then they have given up all hope so therefore do not feel the need to pay attention...
I thanked her very much for her explanation and took her for a dip in my soya hot chocolate for all her troubles. May she rest in peace.......
