The bigger the better. I have a St Bernard. True, the bigger the dog, the bigger the poop. However, they require a lot less exercise and worship their owners. They absolutely hate to dissappoint their master. Our dog puts his head down and gets this "I'm sorry" look when he knows that he is in trouble. My in-laws have a medium dog. She is very hyper and barks a lot. Our dog, sleeps and only barks when someone tries to walk in his house. Plus, my wife is only 5'2". I feel safe knowing that whenever she takes our dog for a walk at night nobody will mess with her. A lot of people will complain about the drool factor of big dogs. Our dog only drools if you hold a treat in front of him for a long time or after he takes a drink. Just because he is big, does not mean he eats a lot of food. We go through a bag of dog food once a month. Water is a different story. He drinks like a fish.

I have both and love both. (obvisouly) Getting a big or small dog depends on your life style. Little dogs (I think) need more attention and are harder to train. But a good thing about little dogs is that they can go pretty much anywhere with you, their pee and poop is much smaller lol, but they are a bit more of a challenge. At least for me I have a really easy to train yellow lab and then a yorkie and a maltese. The lab was much easier to take care of but my little puppies are fun too!

For the most part I'm a big dog person.
Most of the dogs that I like are the bigger ones, although I have a schipperke, that is only 12 inches tall. She's a sweetheart, well mannered, therapy and agility dog.
I've had GSD's all my life, so I tend to be pulled toward them.
Big.

I live in a loft in a major city and bought a very large dog because they tend me calmer and less rambunctious. While our puppy has his moments, he tends to be a lot calmer and content to sleep on the couch than some of our neighbor’s smaller dogs who bounce off the walls. Also, when my fiancé is walking the dog late at night, I feel better knowing that her companion can keep her safe. That said, a big dog comes with their challenges. If you buy a dominant breed you need to be on-top of their training so that they are not pulling you around during walks and they are not a danger to your neighbors. Also, big dogs often have health problems (hips, heart…). You need to be sure that your breeder responsible and your puppy’s lineage does not contain hip dysplasia. One more warning—big dog, big poop.

It does not matter, we have 2 doxies and love them, then we have this thing( he is half corgie and half Autralian shepherd and he is going to be small, but he looks like a St Bernard Puppy I promise. He is just sweet and the cutest thing. He looks like a big dog in a small dogs body.

I like medium sized dogs, but I LOVE bigger dogs. You can throw your arms right around them and give them a big hug - no worries about being gentle or careful!

You planning on eating them? It takes longer to cook a big dog but they are usually more tender.
