The best way is to go there for several months and surround yourself with nothing but Spanish.

If that is not an option, see if you can find a Fluency Fast class near you. http://www.fluencyfast.com In one week, you would be amazed at how much you would learn. And it is the most fun way of acquiring a language. No stress. Lots of laughs.

If that still is not an option, try finding someone in your community who would like to learn English. Then, spend half the time with you teaching them English and the other half with them teaching you Spanish. The more Spanish you hear (that you understand), the more you will learn.

I lived in a Spanish speaking country for about 8 months and learned tons of the words and got familiar with the language. Then I was working (here in America) around alot of Spanish speaking people and get plenty of practice in. Also alot of Spanish people are happy to help you to learn the language and can help you with it. Best way if you can is go to Spaish speaking country cause then you are forced to learn it to survive. Now I can easily get along in Spanish, though my grammar is not perfect.... I can still get my point across and its really fun and cool to be bilingual.

Immerse yourself. Let me break that down. Turn the TV to a novela (spanish soap opera). Listen to Marc Anthony, good singer, good spanish (download lyrics and sing with him, get your pronounciation up). Read a spanish newspaper (with a dictionary of course). Then go to a spanish restaurant and try ordering something in spanish. If you have opportunity move to a spanish neighborhood or country. That is immersion!

Don't fool yourself, man, if you REALLY want to SPEAK Spanish, there's only ONE way: Live there! Minimum 3 months, ideally, 6. But if you can afford to, in one year you'll be speaking practically perfect Spanish. And you sure got a wide choice of countries for that language!

the best way is first to sourround yourself with people(friends, co-workers, etc) that speak spanish; that way whatever you learn you can always pratice it with them. Also they'll talk to you in spanish and little by little you'll start getting used to the sounds, and the pronunciation. You have to take classes also, or just read books in spanish, and watch tv in spanish mostly and try to listen to music in spanish too.Take it step by step and Buena Suerte (good luck)

Cultural immersion combined by structured study.

But stay away from Mexico right now. These are troubled times there right now.

I recommend the programs offered by the good quality colleges and universities.

Berlitz is very good. I used it myself. I've heard good things about Pimsleur.
