Great match up, but i would have to say Winky would win this one, his defence is just too good for Jackson, even though you would have to say Jackson is up there as one of the hardest punchers of alltime (his KO record was superb) i don't think he had the all round skills to break down Winky. So i would say either unanimous points victory or a late KO with the hawk losing heart because he couldn't put winky away.
I would just add as well that the era of middleweight boxers that Jackson came from don't seem to get the recognition they deserve, there were some great fighters in there with Jackson like Mike McCallum, Michael Nunn and even Toney, its nice to see Julian "The Hawk" Jackson get some respect to be matched up against Winky. Great question.

Geez man! This would be a fight. The biggest problems with punchers, in my opinion is, the usually do great as long as they're doing the punching. Julian "The Hawk" is a perfect example, remember when he was knocking out everyone he was fighting (ala Terry Norris) then he gets popped on the chin and he's all over the place like spaghetti, another thing once Julian unloaded his bombs he got tired pretty fast. That's what would save Winky, his ability to hold his hands high and being able to avoid getting cracked with anything significant. This fight would play right into Winky's game plane, he's one of the best boxers around and very underrated. Winky via 12 round decision.

Wow you talk about two contrasting styles and also a great matchup! Once again Brent F you have come up with another great fight! Julian Jackson may have been the hardest puncher ever pound for pound in boxing history. He had several great fights with Mike McCallum, Knocked out Buster Drayton and Terry Norris. His record is 55-6-0 49 kayos in his career. Ronald "Winky" Wright on the other hand is one of the best boxers ever to step inside a ring and feared despite a lack of great punching power. He beat Sugar Shane Mosely twice, Felix Trinidad and had a draw with Jermain Taylor and a great record of 50-3-0 25 kayo's. In this fight I can see Wright being ever cautious of the punching power of Jackson and controlling the fight with his clever boxing ability and winning the decision.

J. Jackson - W 55 (KO's 49) TF 61 - W pct 90% - KO pct 80% - wins over B. Drayton and T. Norris - KO'ed by McCallum, McClellan and 3 other average fighters - #25 ranked puncher
W. Wright -W 50 (KO 's 25) TF 54 - W pct 93% - KO pct 46% -
wins over Trinidad and Mosley{2} - KO'ed by none
In 2004 ranked as #5 greatest current pound 4 for pound fighters.
Jackson was a great punchers. Wright is very awkward and is a good defensive fighter. As long as Wright does not stand toe-to-toe with Jackson, Winky will win a 15 rd unanimous decision.
