I have a 5 mo old maltese. When I feed her she inhales her food. Its gone within 5 minutes or less and she does not chew it at all. She chews ice cubes, carrots, etc but when it comes to her dog food she does not chew. Should I be worried...Im assuming dogs can choke but she hasnt yet. Any ways I can get her to slow down and chew? And shes not going so fast and not chewing because of other dogs in the house she does it fast even by her self.

Blend her food up for her.

I'm sure she is worth it. I really adore Maltese puppies. Give her a hug for me and tell her to take it easy when eating.

Put a big rock in the bowl (big enough for a little dog), and the dog has to slow down and move the rock to eat. Or get a treat ball and put the dog food in that. They get mental sitmulation and food at the same time!!

You can spred her food out on a large cookie sheet so that she can't eat more than one piece at a time.

Eating too quickly can be dangerous for dogs. It can cause a condition called Bloat (Gastric Dilatation & Volvulus) that can kill dogs. It mainly affects very large breeds of dogs, but all breeds could be at risk. I'll include a link about Bloat.
