I am inquiring about HVAC schools and unions for someone who got his initial schooling in the state of Washington but plans to return to Alaska and expand on his HVAC schooling and join an HVAC union if either exist.

I don't know (I'm a professional engineer but an amatuer plumber). But I'd call these places:

Alaska Pipe and Supply / FNW 907-273-2100

Pacific Plumbing Supply 907-561-1001

Wholesale Distributors of Alaska 907-277-8584

Because as wholesalers of plumbing supplies, all of their customers are licensed (and possibly union) plumbers. They will also offer courses from manufacturers to their customers and may well be familiar with other training available in the other.

If the person answering the phone doesn't know, ask if someone else there might, maybe the manager. Don't call 7-9 am or 4-6 pm because they are busiest as crews are heading out to jobs in the morning and prep'ing for tomorrow at the end of the day.

Good luck, David

David in Kenai just gave you excellent advice.

here's another tip - call the State of Alaska Division of Occupational Licensing and ask the same questions. This is the government entity that licenses and regulates HVAC mechanics.
