If you can't find it locally where you live, search on the internet.

If you can not find contact paper use fabric and 3M 77 spray adhesive. I have covered quite a few items using this method and it works quite well.
A high-tack high coverage fast-drying transparent adhesive. Contains no methylene chloride trichloroethane or chlorofluorocarbons. The original, professional grade aerosol adhesive for multi-purpose, extra-high coverage. Bonds virtually any material or fabric. High tack, high coverage and fast drying for permanently attaching foils, carpeting, lightweight paper, cardboard, felt and, cloth to painted or unpainted metals, wood and hardboard. 16.75 oz spray can. Home Depot shows it available for about $9.00 bucks

Look at the shelf paper section of WalMart or drug store/grocry store/hardware store. Some of the shelf paper has adhesive backing and may be the design you like.
