We have to ask in His name. That means what we ask for has to be in God's will for us. He may want to use someone's illness for His glory in a special way. All Christians will be healed completely someday when we get to heaven so we have to be patient.

When Jesus said, "To him who knocks it will be opened.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8), he was talking about asking God for physical and spiritual sustenance. I don't see evidence that he was talking about asking God for favors. It was about asking God to provide what we need, not what we may want.
