Why would there be a war now? We have been allies for a very long time. That would never have even crossed my mind. I've worked with British troops before, great people.

Hypothetically (for any country, just can't see the USA and UK going at it) the USA would be a VERY hard country to invade. Do you know how many civilians own weapons here? Also we have the size of our country on our side.

If it did happen again The UK would have sooooooooooooo many allies against America,ie Australia, New Zealand, all of Europe, most of Asia, not to mention the radicals that would just jump in against the Americans due to their opinions of the American World Police system, even most living in America would turn on America....... i doubt very much the US would come out on top this time.

As for cowboy (answer above) - please dont place The UK and Australia in the same catagory as the USA! Oz is still ticked off that Bush called us his deputy sherif and put us at risk - terrorist are p*ssed at Americans not the rest of us, we'll help you out because terrorism is wrong and being part of the UN we have to help but in no way feel that we agree with you!

America didn't win in 1776 well not on their own anyway,in 1812 the Americans lost but i can guarantee that if Britain had a bigger military they would kick America's ***.WE ALL KNOW that Britain has the best Technology and the best trained military and it's true because the American military today even admit that Britain has the best.
ENOUGH SAID

People, people, calm down. i know, i know, we did win back in independence days, and the pilgrim times, and all that. But you got to relize that the british, most likely has always had a contingency plan to recapture there new found land. Yes this was back in 1780's but there is one.
So just in case they get a wild hair up there butt.. there is no way they could ever take us. first of all there are several US military installations in England, and we are only one of a few countrys that have Aircraft carriers. I mean the largest Aircraft carriers in the world. Our air power alone would cause them to fly the white flag.

The US would take some very heavy damage on the East Coast, namely New York, Connecticut, Virginia and Puerto Rico. Both Navies would suffer great loses. The US would emerge as a minor victory, with HUGE losses. There would be no real winner.

Hate to say it but I doubt it will ever happen again. It is because the UK is too posh and sophisticated to "indian wrestle" in the backyard with it's little brother USA.

And without the UK, I think the USA would still be preserved and natural and full of Natives... it was the UK religious wars of the 17th century that made the USA exists.... hmmm.....

They would nuke each other. Personally I would hope that the
U.K is destroyed because they invaded India. But the U.S
already has plenty of War Ships and Destroyers in the East to protect that side. But I don't think the White House would make it
in one peace.

What a stupid question! I'm a fomer US Marine and I love the Brits, I think they are great people and not once has the thought of war with them crossed my mind. I would rather sit down and have a pint or two with them!

Well the UK wouldn't last very long... and it would embolden the US to atack other sovereign nations (hey! Why stop when you're on a roll?) such as European countries.

I doubt they would even bother with Australia. The prime minister there is a brown-nosed wimp.

Guess you did not pay attention in your US History Class (Revolutionary War, War of 1812 -- ring any bells?)
