Here is what happened 3 days ago I had two root canals done. The pain is not going away I have taken 4 vicodins and that did not dull the pain, I am already on amoxicillin and that topical stuff you can put on your teeth does help a little I cant take any more vicodins in fact I took too many and the dentist thought I would not need something so strong. I only have it for the fact of a recent surgery. I added some more tylenol and now a little vodka. But I worry about when things start wearing off. I dont know what to do, it really hurts like hell

Help!

I called the dentists emergency number they basically punted to the ER or to my PCP. Thier big answer was 'get anti-biotics' told them I already had them and have been on them for over a week but they stated I need to give them time to work. I guess I am supposed to suffer in pain instead. Now 6 vicodins down and constant use of the topical Have a call into the PCP emergency number. I gotta wait for them to call back now

It is very normal to have discomfort for a few days, but if you're in that much pain, you need to call your dentist and see if they can figure out what's going on. Don't suffer through the weekend!! Dental offices have a number you can call. That's what they're for.

This happen to me once. Go back to the dentist and tell him that your still in pain. They will hum and hah and tell your that is normal and your are a whiner. Bull. Ask them if they got all the roots on your tooth. Some have three and some have four. This is what happened to me. They missed one. Then, when they tried to cut it out, they even left a piece in there.

For the pain, a combination of advil and narcotics works the best. The advil gets rids of inflamation. Also, if the pain gets REALLy, bad, go to the emergency or any dentist and get a dental block. They freeze the nerves in your mouth. A doctor can do this, but its best if a dentist does this.

BTW, I ended up pulling that tooth after they played around with it for months and months. I was in so much pain. I later got a bridge.

OMG!
Don't be drinking right now! Really I know you are going to miss your vodka but you can't be drinking and taking tylenol. Stop drinking and take the tylenol when it's time and when you hurt. 3 days maybe you should have called the dentist. If it still hurts monday call don't be drinking....

Well, I hope you're on the West Coast so you can call your dentist before he closes for the holiday weekend!
