I agree with where you are going with this....gitting rid of corpral punishment gave kids a "get away free" card.
& now....respect is lost...
I say every kid needs a good trip to the woodshed, or a switch for a tree.
if more kids got a real spanking...we'd have less teen crime.

This is where it began. When prayer was taken out of schools. Once this happened, there was no stopping the madness that goes on today.
In my day, if a kid talked back to an adult, that butt was ripped in 2. Now kids just say whatever and get away with it.
I remember when they first came out with the child abuse line. My mom lined up my brothers and I next to the phone. While she was on the other side of the room she told us, "If we did make it to the phone, she'd let us call." Then she said she'd call for us. An adult can look at a kid the wrong way and get charged with child abuse.
Some don't understand the difference between abuse and discipline. Everytime my sons do something wrong, I dig into them right then and there. I dont wait until they get home. By that time, they've forgotten what has happened.
The world needs to go back to the old ways on this one. If not, we're all in some deep stuff.

They took God out of school and made religion have a stigma for those non-believers out there I'll say church and religion teaches moral values and respect for your fellow man. Now it's ok to play a video game killing people and not ok to pray about a test . Yes a good crack on the butt helps too if not for punishment then just to get the kids attention and show that you mean what you say, there are many better forms of punishment and it would be good to have the kids attention and let them know that your the boss first. My mom always said "What I say goes and that's it" on two occasions she slapped me in the face and I must say I had it coming that was the only she could get control of the situation. I would not have listened unless that happened first. Now I'm not saying there was not love in my family because there was and lots of it part of it was teaching me discipline so I could make it in the real world if a kid does not learn early that there will always be an authority in life and there is a price to pay for their actions then they will not be responsible adults.

Because today in most states kids have more rights than parents, did you ever notice that in the baby boomer age there was no ADD and ADHD!!???? This is more of a discipline problem than anything, parents are too lazy to make their children mind, therefore the kids have no respect for the parents.

That times have changed for spanking.
Not too mention the law has changed. Today we call this child abuse. Children who are able to call 911 and get beaten up by their parents, threaten their parents now.By saying:"If you beat me I call the police on you." I think this law has gone quite too far. Yes, in certain circumstances there is evidence of child abuse. But heck I got beaten with the pipe, or horse whip, or the buckle belt in the 70's and no one cried "child abuse " back than. So I think too, we need to take parenting back into our hands, once a while a spank on the butt does wonder's in a child..

More and more people realized that adults don't deserve respect. Most of the people I know don't deserve respect. Especially when they DEMAND respect. Those people deserve to be disrespected. Respect is earned. And no one is willing to earn it anymore. And good parenting is obsolete too, I'm afraid.

some parents are actually staring to realize that the more they kick their kid's butt, their kid hates them even more than the beginning, which most often ends up in property damage. plus parents want kids to love their sorry *** when they retire. now there's a theory.

theres a breakdown of respect in society and my X didnt teach that to my kids so he would even side with them against me To this day they dont respect me enough... I haf to be the bad guy making them mind me when they were younger...they still see me as the meanie but hopefully I taught them well The neighbors said I had good kids. That felt great to hear that... I agree with moms working they re so tired it makes it rough I SAY NO PHONES OR COMPUTERS IN THEIR ROOMS OR TVS THATS CALLED SPOILED LET THEM LEARN TO SHARE!!

I know what you mean!!! The problem is, it has been made to easy for kids to do as they want. So many parents do not teach the right morals, ethics, etc. And many who do, find themself in court/jail because the child turn them in for abuse. It's the same for teachers. It's become to easy for kids to get teachers in trouble and parents taking them to court. To sue is to easy!!
