"thorn" = skolops
Perhaps form the base of G4628 and G3700; withered at the front, that is, a point or prickle (figuratively a bodily annoyance or disability): - thorn.
"flesh" = sarx
Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).

Well, I am not using my Strongs, but I believe I can give you the more popular interpretations. The "thorn in the flesh" was a
1-demon sent by God to keep Paul humble after he was caught up into heave. Personally, I think that is absurd. The idea that God would use a demon to accomplish his purpose is like putting the fox in the hen house and expect him to guard the hens! LOL
2-a physical affliction used by God to humble Paul so he would not get prideful about his heavenly experience. There is a Scripture to support this view. Paul talks in several letters about having several afflictions. He makes reference in one of his letters to the Thessalonians about having an eye ailment.
3- a wife. Marriage prevented Paul from being able to devote his full time to ministry. His words in 1st Corinthians 7 would contradict this interp. "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am" (1st Corinthians 7:8).
Hope that helps. Contact me anytime.
