"the world" was not "good" to mike tyson. cus damato, was the catalyst to set mike on the path to fame and glory...but i think even cus would admit, he exploited(expedited his mentoring of) mike, bec he recognized the freakish talent that mike had at such an early age, but cus didn't have a lot of time, unfortunately to develop mike as a man, as well as he developed his boxing skill. mike was a victim of society's ghetto(SO MANY ARE AND WE JUST WRITE THEM OFF!) and never really fit in anywhere. he couldn't trust many people and was not well educated enough to discern good folks from bad folks. i am not trying to excuse anything he's done but, rather, trying to explain how he got where he ended up. he was such a great fighter, it's a shame, bec the world was so ready to embrace him and shower him with the love/affection/admiration that only greats warrant - and that he so sorely needed. had he the breaks and good people around him that ali and leaonard had, before him,he would've been champ for maybe a good 15 years - what a great era that would've been! i feel sorry for him, but there is accountability and he, to his credit, has owned up to his mistakes and paid his debt to society. i think it's time we all stop dumping on him, he's been dumped on enough..we need a little more compassion in this world, for folks like mike, especially when they have the world in the palm in their hands, but don't have the maturity or the moral/ethical strength to really take advantage of it. we should just remember him for the great thrills he provided....i recently looked at his early fights and am still awed by the savage brutality on display. he truly was the last great heavyweight and the boxing world so desperately needs a fighter to fill the shadow he cast...meaning, before all the drama started. mike if you, or anyone you know and trust, reads this, you truly were one of the greats of all time, and here's one fan who has remained loyal, sympathetic, compassionate, and forgiving. i hope you resolve your issues and that the demons from your past no longer haunt you, and that you finally find peace, my brotha~

I actually feel sad about the way things have turned out for "Iron Mike" I know that he his responsible for his actions and for every action there is a reaction, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there were people who were there that he had trusted that just took advantage of him. Don King, Carl King, Debbie King, Rory Halloway, the list goes on and on. After Cus died (the only person who cared what happened to Mike) all the vultures swooped in and fed his head with all kinds of crazy things from "Jimmy Jacobs was a greedy Jew" to "Kevin Rooney is taking money he doesn't deserve". I'm not defending anything Mike has done, he has paid his debt to society and I am not here to judge him. I am a fan of the Fighter, not the man. I don't ask Mike to pay my bills and to the best of my knowledge, he's never asked me to pay any of his. It's always easy to say "What could have been." This is just my opinion. Thank you for the question evil twin Lisa.

Well, if this were truly a boxing, how to, or, how come question, I might have had the answer. THe fact that it's a people question, is why You, yourself, have already answered it. Stupid spending, groupies, frauds, fake friends, and, living for the moment, are basically the three areas you hit on, and, again, you are dead on! Tyson clearly lived fro the moment, he was once a helluva fighter, a nightmare to many a man. He allowed all of the roaches from the gutters into his camp, his house, and, his life. He allowed those same crooks to handle his money. This happens time and time again, because of the very reasons you identified, stupid spendid/ mismanagement of money, and, associating ones' self with the wrong folks.

Most of the best boxers aren't accounting majors, so unless they surround themselves with good business people/lawyers they are in over their heads dealing with the likes of Don King. King seems to prey on them, trying to draw wedges between them and the people who should be looking out for them. If Cus D'Amato had lived longer maybe Tyson never would have made the mistake of getting involved with Don King. But he did, the rest was predictable.

Tyson is a grown man in command of his own faculties. Everything that happened to him, he did to himself.

These kinds of stories, about guys like Tyson, are really not that common in boxing, you just never hear about the success stories - the guys that held onto their dough - Larry Holmes, Marvin Hagler, RayLeonard, Tommy Hearns etc...

OH, PLEASE!!!!!
This man is the dictionary pictorial of stupid and ignorant.
All the $$ and fame could not make poor Mikey a man.
This F**ker is living exactly what he deserves.
I was a huge Tyson fan. HUGE!!
He disappointed me as an admirer, as well as a human being.
Truly, he is so messed up that the only hope is for him to be shot and killed.

Pray to God consistently on a similar time as attempting, as God helps people who help themselves extremely than people who're lazy. Lord Krisna mentioned in Bhagavad Gita, we would desire to constantly carry out our works and resign the fruit of our action. So we would desire to maintain attempting and discover excitement in doing our artwork, no count if or not we get the needed result. we would desire to constantly not lose wish. Do your terrific and go away something to God,it is going to all come precise some day or night.

Never ever ever ever [ I can't say that enough]ever let anyone else handle your money. That does not mean don't invest, just keep track of it your self. Set aside a fixed amount to give away/loan [ same thing in my eyes] and when that amount is gone say NO!

The man has to live with the decisions he's made. Every action has a reaction as they say.
