To me, it means they don't love you anymore, but they don't want to tell you that because they think the person might be hurt after learning it...what do you think?

no it literally means they love you (as in still care about you and your well being) but they don't love you in a romantic way... and if they don't want to hurt your feelings that exactly what they say because they do care about u still.....

When i say this i mean. I love u. I would do anything for you, i will be your shoulder to cry on, i want the same from you. Ill be your rock, your gaurd, everything a woman should be to a man, but i cannot commit to you. I cannot be your one and only. Not right now at least.. i have fallen in love with the man that i told this too.. and well fell back outta love with him.. but to this day i still love him.. which is where the whole i love you but i am not in love with you statement comes back

Ok, if she started off being in love with you but now she just loves you then it means that you are not what she thought you where. Maybe you are less romantic than before, or you play too much and are never serious. So in other words the relationship is getting cold by the minute. Now if she loves you but has never said to you that she is in love with you then maybe she is just saying, I need to get to know you more before I can give you my heart.

It means that they care deeply for you as a person and a friend, but they don't have that "spark" that makes it a romantic relationship. You are right though, sometimes women will say that in order not to hurt the guy's feelings.

I cant believe how way off target all these answers are! Especially the girls.. What this means is she loves you but shes not in love with you YET. I was dating a guy and I loved him but it took a while to fall in love. And the same went for him. Falling in love takes time. We got along great together, went out etc... I loved him but I wasn't in love, because I didnt have that in love feeling the feeling that you want to be with this person every day and talk to them all the time and wake up in the morning with that person on your mind. Or that you would even give your life for that person (a little extreme) but hey when your in love thats how you feel. Or that giddy feeling you get or that neverending smile you get on your face when you talk about that person. That is some of the things in love means.
Now, that does not mean in any way shape or form that this girl cannot fall in love with you. She could have been hurt before, or she is just taking her time (doesnt want to rush her feelings). Believe me if she is saying that she loves you, falling in love with you is not that far behind.
But don't believe these other posts, She saying she loves you does not mean she loves you as a friend, brother or that she doesnt see herself with you, it just means she is taking her time not trying to rush her emotions. Falling in love with someone takes time. Those are really the type of relationships that mean the most and that you get the most out of. It means that you would have earned her love. You dont want to be the guy that some girl is quick to fall in love with because if she is quick to fall in love with you she can leave you and fall for ANYBODY.
What she said and what you are going through is a good thing. Take your time, date her, wow her and let her fall in love with you gradually. It will come.
Now if she said I Love you but I'm not in love with you anymore then thats different there is still hope that she will fall back in love she may be just unsure of herself or going through some things. Just support her but dont be to pushey or overbearing let her sort her feelings out but don't try to force yourself or your love on her. If he love was there before and it was strong she will come around. If not you will have to move on and let her go. Don't spend to much time 2 months tops because after a while of you hanging around waiting for her to fall back in love, she will realize this and take you for granted or loose respect for you. You don't want that. This way you can leave with dignity cause she will come crawling back.
