You should not be filing legal documents yourself if you are not a legal professional, the risk is that you don't take into consideration all of your legal options and you might end up hurting your case more than helping it. Custody is too important an issue to not get a lawyer.

2. Can you support the child?

3. Is the child a relative?

4. A very understanding and low cost lawyer, if there is such, try craigslist.com
