Gold is not measured in the traditional ounce and pound manner. Heinz was absolutely right - gold is measured in "troy ounces" and there are 12 troy oz. to the pound.

At about $500. a troy ounce and 12 ounces to the pound, $6,000.
Just checked gold is presently $624. an oz
So 1 (troy) pound would be US$7,488.00

Above Heinz is correct at $624.00 a troy ounce. There are 16 ounces in a pound. The answer is $9,984.00 dollars a pound, Heinz must of had a 12 ounce beer before he answered...Have fun!!!
