Reminds me of the movie just friends. Well for girls, we usually don't think of our guy friends in any other way besides friends. Basically once a strong friendship is established, we'll think of him as one of the girls. The only way out would be to strongly let her know that you like her or you could always go with the old technique of saying you like one of her friends and see if she gets jealous. Just make sure you think it through first because you don't want to ruin your friendship with the girl.

3) She refuses to help you, well then, if she won't even lend a helping hand as a friend, she's really not worth much, you've just dodged a bullet by not getting into a relationship with her
Win, win and not-so-bad situation... trust me, single and lonely is better than involved with a psycho chick.
