I'm interested in a career as a flight attendant, but I'd like to know if you must relocate to where ever they station you, or can you commute from your home. Almost all of the hiring airlines state that you must relocate, but they don't mention whether commuting is an option.

Heres an idea. Dont ask the people that arent flight attendants. LOL I am one!
Ok in order t be a flight attendant you need to work out of the airlines hub. For example, I live in Milwaukee and the hub here is for Midwest Airlines, and Midwest Connect...(Skyway) I couldnt work for American because they arent hubbed here.

If you are in a city with a major airline based there, dont apply online! It is better to get the application from the headquarters (usually within a mile or two of the airport) You can also ask questions there, and your application will usually be processed faster.
Also live close to the airport.
Most starting flight attendants are on a reserve status, which means you dont have a schedule at first. You basically wait until they call you and you have "X" amount of time to get to the airport. My time was 90 minutes. So they call me and within 90 minutes I have to be at the airport for that flight.
p.s. Training is tough.

Good Luck

No I don't think that you need to relocate. They prob just mean that to work for that particular airline that you might need to move. Ex. If you lived in B.C. & wanted to work for an airline that was based in say, Toronto, you'd have to move. I've seen an airline site that states that they don't help you commute there tho.

No. I used to date one a while back and she said they almost always schedule routes around your hometown. You will however have to spend many nights in hotels on the road.

It can be a tough schedule. Ussualy they work long hard hours straight, but then get alot of time off.

you come back for training. once you're employed you will possibly properly be based out of many different places. you could stay the place ever you want. it is your duty to checklist to artwork at your favorite base.maximum choose a base close to their homestead or they pass. some could have 2 homes one close to the backside and that they bypass to their different place throughout day off. some holiday many hours on the planes between kin and the backside they artwork out of.
