They are magazines that have articles that give researched information. If you attend a university you can do a search on line at your school.
When you are assigned to write a paper the best articles for finding info are found in these types of journals.
There are many titles, but it depends on your field. Contact your library and they can help you access it. You need your school ID and password in order to view them. They also have them shelved if you are not a student at that school and you can go and look at them and make copies.

A Scholarly journal is one that is peer-reviewed. Time and Newsweek are not scholarly journals. Journals such as the Middle Eastern Review of International Affairs are. You can find articles in scholarly journals via your school's research department or library. They most likely have a subscription to JSTOR.com, where you can access thousands of scholarly articles.
