Are there certain areas in the country where chihuahua's are cheaper?

The best way to get a "cheap" Chihuahua is to work through a rescue. Often they have terrific dogs that are homeless through no fault of their own. I adopted a CHi for my sister from the shelter where I volunteer. I paid the asking price of $200.

Go to this page to see the adoption procedures and to see a link to available dogs. The national rescue has a $200 base price for adoption. The North Carolina group has a 6 month old pup for $225.

You will not get a tiny pup through rescue, but you can get a very good, very loving dog, sometimes they are housebroken already, and you will be saving a life.

PS: I also know of a special needs (abused and terrified) Chihuahua that is desperate for a quiet home without kids, big dogs or excessive cuddling. I think if you were the right person to adopt that dog the foster mom would ALMOST (but not quite) be willing to pay YOU. He is NOT for just anybody though.

Check with a chihuahua rescue group. But, keep in mind that $400 is a small amount ,compared to what you'll spend over the years caring for your dog.

Definetely. My chihuahua only cost 235.00, and she was only 6 weeks old when I bought her. Check around, I'm sure you'll find a chihuahua for under 400.

Usually you can get Chihuahuas for less than $400 through shelters or rescue groups. We currently have one little guy who's $35.00 plus a neuter deposit...

Chihua rescue and/or your local pound. Seriously, I have 3 of the best ankle biters you can ask for, none for more than $100 and that included shots, micro-chipping and spaying.

And no they are not mixed at all.
