It depends on where you live. Try contacting your county office and they can provide you with information on housing programs. Good luck though, I know in my county they have a 3 year waiting list!!

Have you applied to HUD to get into a Section 8, Section 8 is a government subsidised program where you pay a portion of the rent.

Call Social Services. You would be surprised with all the stuff that they can help you with. Even if they can not help you directly, they will put you in touch with the people that can help you.
There is no shame in getting help from them. That is what they are there for. The only shame is if you misuse the system, or don't use it at all and thus make you and your child suffer.

Go to the Community Action Council or the place you get medicad/food stamps/WIC in your town and ask about HUD programs in the area. Hope it gets better for you!
