Any signs at all. I would really like to know.

Why can't doctors just check for everything wrong with us.. we pay them... why do we have to find out ourselves?

So yeah.. what are the signs?

fatigue, lightheadedness. low energy. pale skin and lips.
do you have a good diet, eat lots of greens and grains? how about some nice steak once in a while or at least an iron supplement.(buy a good one)
try those things, google it and take good care of yourself. be your own best friend and take good care of yourself:)
and if doctors checked for everything that could be wrong with a person it would cost way more than you would want to pay and then people would say "why do they do this stupid test that costs so much and I didn't even need it". They just call the medial practice an art, it's scientific but much of it goes by individual interpretation, that is why we all have to take care of our selves and try not to let things get into their hands unless it's an emergency.
Good Luck, hope you are feeling better soon. Now eat some spinach!!!!! ;-)

A person with anemia will feel tired and weak because the body's tissues are being starved of oxygen. In fact, fatigue is the main symptom of most types of anemia. The severity of symptoms is in part related to the severity of anemia. Mild anemia can occur without symptoms and may be detected only during a medical exam that includes a blood test.

Symptoms of anemia include:

Fatigue

Weakness

Fainting

Breathlessness

Heart palpitations (rapid or irregular beating)

Dizziness

Headache

Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

Difficulty sleeping

Difficulty concentrating

Common signs include:

Pale complexion

The normally red lining of the mouth and eyelids fades in color

Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)

Abnormal menstruation (either absence of periods or increased bleeding)

Other signs depend on the cause of the anemia. These can include spoon-shaped finger nails and toenails in iron-deficiency anemia, mildjaundice in hemolytic anemias, and leg ulcers in sickle cell anemia .

Ummm....anemia would show up during a standard physical exam with blood draw. Not only that, but you would have a good idea of the source of that anemia, which would cause a referral to a hemotologist. Five minutes looking under a microscope would give a good idea of what's going on.

As a woman, the number one cause of anemia is heavy menstrual cycle, which would be caught by your gyne. Complain of a heavy menstrual cycle and he will pull a CBC on you.

Symptoms of anemia include:

Fatigue

Weakness

Shortness of breath

Dizziness or fainting

Pale skin, including decreased pinkness of the lips, gums, lining of the eyelids, nail beds and palms

Rapid heart beat (tachycardia)

Feeling cold

Sadness or depression

Decreased sexual function

Difficulty sleeping

Decreased appetite

Because the symptoms of anemia are easily confused with the symptoms of other conditions, it is important to see a doctor for an evaluation if you are experiencing significant fatigue or other signs and symptoms listed above, or if you already have a serious disease.

The "What's Your AQ™?" (Anemia Quotient) self-quiz can help you assess your symptoms and discuss them with your doctor.

It can be found at www.anemia.com

If you talk to your doctor and tell him/her what's going on with you then he/she will be able to do all the necessary test to diagnose you and get you better. Good Luck

Cold fingers and pale lips and white under fingernails.

Why do you think you have anemia? If the doctor says no why blame the doctor for not finding any signs of anemia?

As far as I've read there are two types of anemia.
1. Vitamin B-12 and folate deficiency anemia (megaloblastic anemia)
2. Iron deficiency anemia.
A folate deficiency can develop from eating too few folate-containing foods -- such as vegetables -- or overcooking vegetables. Deficiency may also occur if your body needs extra folate (for example, during pregnancy), if you take certain medications, or if you abuse alcohol.

Common symptoms of an Iron deficiency anemia are:
Easy fatigue and loss of energy.
Unusually rapid heart beat, particularly with exercise.
Shortness of breath and headache, particularly with exercise.
Difficulty concentrating
Dizziness
Pale skin
Leg cramps
Insomnia

Anemia caused by iron deficiency:

Hunger for strange substances such as paper, ice, or dirt (a condition called pica).
Upward curvature of the nails referred to as koilonychias.
Soreness of the mouth with cracks at the corners.

weakness, sluggishness, anhedonia, pale skin, little perspiration are some signs of anemia. Taking iron helps, watch out though. It turns your stools black. You'll think you have a disease, but you don't.

Dont panic. Go to your normal GP who will examine you as you may only have a tear or infection from the stool. There's no point speculating until someone professional see's you.
