Would you? Or would you then have the good sense to know he had (perhaps) gone senile/crazy/etc? Would that then make you realize that nobody is perfect, not even him?

Edit: We all know he has not done this - yet. Is the question too difficult for you to understand?

The Pope is as infallible as God is, and we know that God is not
faultless since he made the grave error of creating man.

No.

The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is infallible at closely defined times.

The Pope is only infallible when he, in union with the body of bishops, solemnly teaches that a doctrine as true.

This comes from the words of Jesus to Peter (the first Pope) and the Apostles (the first bishops), "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matthew 18:18) and "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16).

At all other times the Pope can be just as sinful as you and me and be in need of forgiveness.

With love in Christ.

While the Pope, according to Catholic dogma, is infallible, that does not mean that he is impeccable (ie liable to sin). Not all papal doctrines and edicts are _ex cathedra_. The criteria for _ex cathedra_ teachings are explained at Wikipedia site below.

Presumably, an edict to murder children would not be _ex cathedra_ because it is not a teaching on faith or morals, and falls outside the realm of papal infallibility.

I am roman catholic by choice and I really do not believe that this Pope is "infallible". As it says in the Holy Bible, "Do not call anyone on earth, "Father" except your God in heaven." So, I really think the Pople is just a man of regular blood the only one I really believe is "infallible" is Jesus Christ himself.

I really hope Catholics DO NOT think the POPE is infallable. HE IS A MAN AND NO MAN IS TO BE WORSHIPPED AS A GOD!!!!!!!!!

I'm quite sure Catholics understand the bible and worshipping the POPE is blasphemy.

RIGHT???????????????????

I LOVE your avatar. Sorry, its just too cute!

Well anyways, as to your question, I used to be Catholic. And obeying the Pope in all matters spiritual is one of the many reasons I am now Agnostic.

Clearly, you have no idea what is meant by Papal Infallibility. That's OK. A lot of people don't understand what it is and what it isn't. If you are actually interested in learning, check this out:

Don't worry. It's not too long.

No one is infallible. The bible says that there is none perfect, on not one. Have a nice day.

Far be it for me to defend Catholics, but to be fair, they believe the pope is only SPEAKING infallibly when he is speaking ex cathedra, meaning "from the throne."

If you want to rip them, get them for praying to saints and Mary! (something specifically condemned in the Bible)

The pope hasn't suddenly or unsuddenly suggested that people do this.

So, irrelevant question.
