Patton had personality conflicts with everyone. He was a mediocre general who won when he had overwhelming numbers of troops and tanks. His record during Torch shows his general lack of competence. There was nothing special about Patton, there was a lot special about the U.S. army vs the remnants of the German army.

Stalin was not a general so his inclusion is pointless.

Rommel was brilliant. He was able to adapt to having more troops with inferior tanks (invading France), more troops with better tanks (in North Africa), and fewer troops with superior but far fewer tanks (in Normandy). He would be able to put up a good fight against the Russians.

Zhukov had the brilliance of Grant. The ability to bring sheer numbers to bear and achieve victory through grinding at the enemy. This may seem like faint praise, but previous Russian commanders had simply been outmaneuvered and lost huge forces to little effect. Zhukov got value out of his troops, even as he lost them in huge numbers.

At the end of WWII the Russians had a vastly bigger army then the Americans. They had better tanks - far superior to the U.S. tanks, and in far greater numbers. Had the Americans invaded the U.S.S.R. at the end of the war, the Russians simply would have continued their sweep across Europe and taken it all.

Given the inferiority of tanks and numbers of troops, Patton's aggressiveness would have brought America's defeat sooner. Rommel's brilliance would have held off defeat for awhile, but Zhukov would not have let him attain a decisive victory. Zhukov would just grind the Americans away with massive troop strength and firepower.

Russia might be successful invaded for a time, but eventully the US-German invasion would lose steam and be turned back. Germany was nearly ruined after the war and the US was not in the best of shape either and they were still at war with Japan. This is not to say that Russia didn't have its postwar problems, but their boldness in setting up the "iron curtain" seems to suggest that they did not think the allies would/could stop them, and there is certainly evidence to support their conclusion.

Stupid Question.

Patton is not comparable to Stalin. Hitler is.

And we all know Nazi Germany got smashed by Soviet Russia.

there would be serious conflicts of personalities and egos. even if they were ordered to work together, each would still keep his own agenda hidden from the other.can't be a 5 star general and not have SOME ego.
