my kitty looks like he's smiling sometimes...i have pictures to prove!

Yes, but they just express it differently. They do smile when the owner is happy. and you can notice when they are sad. I can "read'' my cats. They are not easy to understand. They have their own personality. You really need to LOVE them in order to understand.
