Hey,I've never made boiled peanuts before but yesterday my boyfriends granfather asked if we wanted to go pick some peanuts from his garden,so we did,and my boyfriend asked me if today while he's at work I would boil some peanuts, and I said yes I'll make some, but now I'm not exactly sure how to do it. I only want to boil about 3 cups,so how much water, how much salt, can I add any types of peppers to make it a little spicy, and once it boils,do I cover the pot?

put enough water in the pot to cover the peanuts. add about 3 tablespoons of salt and just let them boil. Keep check to make sure they have plenty of water in them..
PLEASE what ever you do , DO NOT add any peppers or anything else to the peanuts. The way to tell if they are done is when you open one and the nut is soft......on meduim heat cook about 1 1/2 hours

We grow and boil peanuts, it is easy as pie!

Rinse peanuts and remove any leaves/stems
Put the peanuts in a large pot and make sure that you put enough water to cover them plus about 4 inches more.
We make them salty so at least 1/2 cup of salt, maybe more after we taste them.
Then just get them boiling, once they come to a full boil turn it down a tad and let them have a nice gentle boil for about 1 1/2 hours or until you can crack a shell and the nut is soft.

Don't worry about covering it, if you don't just make sure you check on them often and add water as needed.

Good Luck with your Goobers!

I try but it's only .........It's maxim. Peanut > walnut halves

Ingredients
For the mayonnaise (makes 300ml/0.5pt):
2 egg yolks
2 tsp white wine vinegar
1 tsp Dijon mustard
pinch of caster sugar
300ml/0.5pt olive oil

For the salad:
8-10 walnut halves
1 head celeriac
4 russet apples, cored
1 celery heart, leaves picked
salt and pepper
Method
1. To make the mayonnaise, simply place the egg yolks, white wine vinegar, mustard and sugar in a processor or liquidiser and blend to combine. With the motor still running, gradually add the olive oil in a slow and steady stream until all is combined and the mayonnaise has thickened. Season to taste. (Store the mayonnaise in a screw top jar in the fridge).
2. To make the salad, place the walnuts in a small pan and cover with cold water. Bring slowly to the boil and drain. Peel the skin from the nuts with the help of a skewer.
3. Peel the celeriac and cut into large manageable chunks. Using a mandolin, julienne the celeriac pieces into thin strips. Place them immediately into a large bowl with the lemon juice and just enough water to cover. Deal with the apples in exactly the same way.
4. Drain the apples and celeriac and toss them in enough mayonnaise to combine. Season to taste and pile into the centre of a large serving bowl. Scatter the walnuts and celery heart leaves over and serve.
