What is the difference between a $5 drug store shampoo and a $30 salon shampoo. Is it really worth the extra money? Are the results that much better?

I don't think there is a lot of difference. But I pay a lot of money for my highlights and they seem to last longer when I use the Redken Blonde Glam from my salon, but its not that expensive. I buy the economy size it last forever and it's $20 each for the shampoo and conditioner.

I am going to say no they are not. I have used both and to be honest I like the $5 shampoo better. Most of the salon shampoos that I have tried either dry out my hair or make it really oily. I think you are just paying for the name.

Have you noticed that drug store shampoos suds up like dish washing detergents? Professional products don't use the harsh detergents. Professional products are much more concentrated, so you use much less product, every time you shampoo or condition your hair. If you have short, normal hair, with no chemicals or use of blowdryer, curling iron, or flat iron. Then you can probably use a general drug store shampoo. If not, I would recommend a professional brand. All you have to do is use them, and you will absolutely see a difference.

salon shampoos seem to not be as hard on your hair. But I have found that you can use some drug store shampoos that are not as hard. Baby shampoo is really good and it help with the moisture in your hair.

No real difference other than the quality of chemicals they use. Like the difference between using window cleaner and Windex.

The better shampoos, no matter what the price, are missing certain chemicals called sulfates. Sulfates clog hair folliles making your hair thinner and grow slower.

I have tried both and see no difference other than I think that salon shampoo smells better and the smell lasts longer. Other than that, who knows.

I don't think there is any real difference between the two. Other than the one you buy at the salon is over priced. My friend is a hair stylist and she recommends that I use Finesse Shampoo and Conditioner rather than the stuff in her salon.

sometimes it is, depending on your hair's particular issues...sometimes, it's just money.
