well first ask her father for her hand and ask them to keep it quiet. Then it depends on what you want. Just to surprise her or a romantic way. Take her out to a romantic restaurant and ask her after dinner. or just walk up to her wherever she is at and drop to one knee and ask. Or when your at her house and her mother and father is present. Just say well Mr and Mrs. I would like to also become part of your family and then turn towards her and drop to one knee and say that is if your daughter will marry me. just a few suggestions.

I heard of someone sealing a note in a plastic baggy and freezing it in a heart shaped pan. After it's frozen you run a little warm water on the back of the pan to make it pop out. You then give it to your girlfriend and ask her to melt it. When she melts it she will find the bag with the note.
The card or note inside said something like: "Now that you've melted my heart will you marry me?" Corny but it would melt my heart!

Over the top is best in my opinion.
Hire a sky writing plane. Hang signs in the windows of a tall building spelling it out, etc.

do it somewhere special...like the place where u guys first met or the place where u first went on a date and do it the traditional way the get down on ur knee bit

What does she like to do? Try and make it something she won't expect. Surprise her. Just try and incorporate it into something that she'll remember. Good luck, thats sweet.
