Congratulations and good luck!
You'll do fine!
This is better than more pups than nipples. Try a litter of 14 Dane pups! Whew!
More nipples than puppies just means more milk. The mother and babies will do most of the work and it is best to just keep an eye on everyone and help momma out by keeping the bedding nice and clean and making sure she has plenty of water so she can make plenty of milk.
Just watch the pups to make sure everyone is growing and gaining weight. If you notice a puppy looking smaller than the rest and this pup starts to get pushed away from the teats, then you should intervene. If this is a mixed breed litter, some pups may be different sizes, so it's best to just watch and make sure everyone nurses and you notice the little bellies rounding out and filling up.

And I definately agree with clipping the little toe nails, they should harden around 3 weeks, but be careful. It's best to use a human babynail clipper and take your time.
Well, Good luck and take care!
Best wishes for you and your babies!

The mom and the pups will do all of the work. No need to do anything other than checking the milk supply in the nipples, which you have already done! Sit back and let nature take care of itself for a few weeks, then you'll have to start the weening process.

We had the same scenario when the dog we got in at the sanctuary I work at had puppies. She came into us pregnant, and she had four very beautiful pups. The puppies don't spend every second suckling, but when they do suckle, they will usually always go to a different nipple. I'm sure she will be fine.

Good luck with the babies!

Pups will empty one teat and then move on to the next. Don't worry; mom will make sure everybody gets fed.

If you want to help her, though, one of the best things you can do is to clip the pups' toenails every week. Puppies pummel their momma's teats to get the milk to flow and if their nails are long, they'll tear her up and she won't want to nurse them anymore.

She should move them around and if the pups are only nursing on certain ones, the ones that are not being nursed on will eventually stop producing milk.

You don't need to do anything. People try to get too involved in mother natures work. If your dog lived in the wild she would still have no problems taking care of her puppies. The puppies will naturally go to the full ****. She will be fine, I really wouldn't worry about it. Congrats on the puppies!

You don't need to worry, the mother and pups will take care of it themselves.
