The fact that you are genuinely concerned about your life and where you're going is a step in the right direction. The key is getting rid of all the negativity. It's not bad to contemplate where you are in life and where you would like to be, but it's a bummer if you keep kicking yourself! (I'm sure having someone to share life with will be a big plus. Keep searching!)
I, myself, am 31 and just now started a new career, after about 6 years of teaching. I'm still not 100% happy with my job, but I keep pushing ahead and keep looking and keep trying to improve myself. And when I get frustrated with all that, I do things that make me happy... spend time with my friends and family, watch dumb movies, read, go outside, eat chocolate and bake cookies. (Basically, I take time to enjoy the "little things."
I don't feel like I've missed the bus or that my destination is a 3,000 mile walk, but I DO get confused and frustrated. (You're definitely not alone there!) But I've come to realize that my life is an ever-changing, somewhat unpredictable journey. And, ultimately, my life is what I make of it...
Don't compare yourself to high school. Don't compare yourself with others. Don't compare yourself with what you think you should be.
You don't have to reach "a perfect life" right here, right now. But you can keep striving for it.

Wow. I was in the same boat at 27 (many years ago). I was already on my second bad marriage by then. I liked my job (secretary) but had no direction. Right before I turned 28, I became a born-again Christian. Now I have meaning and purpose in my life. Jesus Christ made all the difference to me. I will pray for you that you ask Him into your life soon. You won't regret it. I recommend that you start reading the New Testament and praying that God will direct you to a good church. Get going girl, time's a wastin'.

I was out of high school 7 years before I found a good job. I remember a high school counselor saying you have to exactly now what you are doing by 18 to direct your life I disagree some people take longer to find their calling than others. The late blooming flowers in life are usually the most beautiful when they bloom, be encouraged pray, take courses if you are able and God bless you I am praying for you for direction

"I do not even have children or a family yet" says it all. You seem to have a conflict between someone else's vision for your life and your own. If you want kids and a family, then join a dating service or something and meet someone. If kids and a family is not really what you want, then admit it now and realize there are lots of people who are happy that don't have those things. Find out what you enjoy doing and do it! Screw what other people think you should be doing.

I always beleived in onething GOD wont help until you help yourself.
He is not the one who is going to do all the work while we enjoy the fruits of his labor.
If you want your life to be as beautiful as others and if want to gain peace in your life do your part of the work.
I had been in this phase once but now i have come out of it. I worked hard in my case i studied and patiently clung on to get a nice job with nice pay. God had ofcourse helped in attaining this.
I suggest you to go get a job immerse yourself in work for some time forget everything forget weekends, parties everything in 6 months you will be at a position where you can start enjoying the fruits of your labor. Nice job, nice pay since you will be succesful by then you will have new friends and whole world will look at you in a diff way and you will look at the world in a diff way. No more depression and no more worries.
Best of Luck in your endeavours.

God says this: "I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future". If you move in the direction of knowing Jesus Christ, and studying about the character of God and the word of God, God then beings to work in your life. He will provide for you direction, a firm foundation, peace, assurance, joy, all these things.
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will be added to you".
These things in the bible are not just there, they are not just words on a page. They are truth. If you devote your life to Jesus, you have no idea of the wonderful, purposeful life He has in store for you.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. As I was seeking God he gave me wisdom, he gave me peace and he gave me a Godly husband and direction. Seek him and he will make it come to pass, and I was a lot older than you when I turned my life around, Your very young, and God loves you very much!!! More than you could ever know

I suggest you purchase the Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren.
Though it is a Christian book, it reflects everyone as a whole.
