Don't use a BB gun! Try a shotgun instead.

The cat is in the tree because it is better than being down on the ground. Are you sure she isn't coming down at night and scouting for food? If not, then she is getting hungry and you should be able to entice her with some yummy canned cat food. Open a can of tuna and squeeze a little of the oil over some dry food. Tuna is extremely fragrant and most cats can't resist it. I don't recommend giving cats tuna on a regular basis but for luring them out of a tree it's magic.
You might want to provide a ladder or something for her. I've seen first time tree climbers get into the tree and then are reluctant to come back down. Leaning a ladder or a long board, piece of plywood or parking a pick up truck next to the tree helps sometimes. It gives them a "gateway" to getting down to the ground that is less intimidating than going back the way they went up.
Do not shoot anything at the cat. If she has been up the tree for a while, she is plenty stressed out already. Threatening her with a BB gun or bottle rockets or throwing things at her may get her out of the tree but will give her reason to run, putting her in even more danger.
Keep her indoors from now on. She will live longer and be much happier and healthier because of it.
If all else fails, call a local animal shelter, or pet rescue organization and ask them for assistance or tips on what has worked for them.

I wouldn't shoot bb's. You might miss and hit your cat. I don't think I would shoot bottle rockets either, as it might scare him so badly that he might try to make a huge leap and injure or kill himself. He's probably there because he is afraid to come down, so I definitely wouldn't recommend anything that would scare him any further.
If you do decide to cut down the tree, try to have some sort of very large net or piece of cloth, and get 3 friends or neighbors to hold the other corners, in case he jumps.
How high in the tree is he? Have you tried offering him his favorite treat. Maybe you could climb far enough up a ladder to let him smell the treat.
If that isn't possible, perhaps the SPCA or animal control could help you.
I wish you and your cat the best.

A cat's depth perception isn't the same as ours, and climbing down isn't as easy as climbing up. While I certainly agree with the firefighter who says you don't find dead cats in trees, I understand your concern and not wanting to wait for him to come down. I don't think that making the poor thing afraid of you is going to do the trick, though. Find a young kid to climb the tree or get a ladder tall enough to reach the cat. Go up with a pillow case, if necessary, to secure the cat for the trek down.
I hope you get him soon!

You have a serious problem if ANY of your questions are serious. You are one sick s.o.b. I would like to shoot bottle rockets at you...how would you like it. If your cat REALLY is in a tree, it's probably because of the things you want to do to the poor thing. Climb the tree, grab the cat, climb down...let the cat go and hopefully it will find an owner who doesn't want to mame it.

Just climb the tree and get it down. Shooting at it will only drive it farther up the tree. Ya got a ladder?

If you are desperate to get the cat out of the tree get a big bucket attatch it to a long pole and raise it to where the cat is. Put some treats in it so your cat will want to get in. If that does not help call you local animal shelter and see if they can help. Good Luck.

Eventually the cat will get hungry enough and come down. Have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?

I to work for a F. D. and we do not save cats in trees-- they got up there and they will come down when they are good and ready-- especially when they get hungry-- do sit and watch him he'll never leave-- but the cat will come down,---- never ever found a dead cat in a tree and I been doing it for 28 years

Try the water hose. My indoor only cat escaped outside once and I had to get the hose. I tried climbing the tree but I couldn't reach him.
