I had a medical bill go into collections that I didnt know about. I never received a bill, nothing! I found out about it cause I looked at my credit report. I paid the bill off a few weeks ago (as soon as I found out) they said it will come off my credit report within 30-45 days. What can I do about that? Will it really come off my credit report?

It will come off and another good thing is that most creditors ignore medical bills in collection on a credit report because they are so common.

Nobody pays medical bills.

If you paid the collection agency, I hope you got it in writing that they will delete the tradeline. If not, you may have a hard time getting them to do it.

Keep an eye on your reports and if you don't see it come off, write them and remind them of your agreement.

If you have it in writing, include a copy of it when you write them.

Send everything certified mail, return receipt.

When you get the green card back, dispute the account with the credit bureaus.

If they don't respond to your letter, don't delete and verfiy the tradeline, resend another letter and dispute again.

If they don't respond etc, file a complaint with the BBB,.FTC your states attorney general and their states atty. general. Include copies of your letters and disputes with your complaints.

Then, redispute with the bureaus and include copies of your FTC and atty. general's complaints.

Yes.

Go to the hospital and talk to them about it. You DO NOT have to pay a collection agency, you can deal directly with the creditor.
