Seriously, I have family members that are close to that weight and are close to that age.
GO TO THE DOCTOR. get a complete check up first including blood work. It could actually be something you don't know. The doctor can also advise you about exercise and diet and may recommend a local weight loss clinic that uses both diet and exercise. That' s what it's going to take and don't expect it to disappear overnight, because it didn't happen overnight.
The most important step is the first one. The doctor can also get you an appointment with a dietitian who can go over your normal diet and point out needed changes. These are not temporary, they probably will be permanent and necessary.
I'm fifty and just started thinking about my health seriously last year. My wife has joined a local exercise group and I walk, ride a bike, and do minor [not strenuous] exercise. We have changed our eating habits and have learned to read food labels. I've lost about 30 lbs. over the last 6-8 months and she about 20. Not a lot, but it's a start and I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be back. It's a education both mentally and physically.
Congratulations on the decision, it will certainly improve your life.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You need to think about what is keeping you from losing the weight _before_ you go to any weight loss place. They are there to sell you their plan. For example, my husband lost 75 pounds on LA Weight Loss. A teacher friend of mine lost around 40. They're like personal trainers. No meetings. 1 on 1 appointments, and they teach you the proper way to eat and cook. Jenny Craig has a lot of prepared food. If you know you don't have time or patience to learn, then you'll be more successful with them. Run your choice by your doctor, because not all elements of all plans are right for you. Watch out for trans fats. Good luck!

you probably qualitfy for gastric bypass at this point, if you don't want to do that go swimming, don't run, it's bad for your joints until you lose some more weight. I think weight watchers works well, it's healthy because you don't want to go on a fast diet, if you go from really heavy to really thin quickly it causes all kinds of extra heart problems. so eat lots of vegetables and fruits, and lots of lean protein, and excercise a lot. Just walking for an extra half an hour a day can help.
Good luck!

Top weight loss tips
Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.
* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.
* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.
* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.
* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.
* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.
* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.
* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.
* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!
* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

I had diabetic and other problems. I lost 40 lbs by nutritional program and eat low glycemic index food. If you eat right, your body may fix itself. I posted my pictures on a web page to share with others.
Good luck.

Consult your doctor, but there is a great book that you do,. it is called Lean for Life by Cynthia Stamper-Graff. You will need to talk to your doc if you are insulin dependent before you can do this, but it will melt the weight away.

you may very well be suffering from depression and/or an eating disorder. You need to try to find the psychological reasons behind your seemingly self-destructive behavior. You can do this in conjunction to dieting. I wish you the best. Please remember that you are the one that must take the action necessary to change this behavior, as difficult as it may be.
