Hi, i got a DWI in Dallas last year and it is just now getting filed by Dallas County. They actually took blood form me, so there is no getting out of the .08 BAC that i had. I don't mind being guilty of the DWI, I am just wondering is there anyone else out there that has had a DWI in Dallas county in the past year that has already been to court and have been sentenced? What fines did you get? Did you have to community service? Did you have to pay the DPS $1000 a year for 3 years? What were your court costs? Did you have to go to classes? If so what kind and how long? And if you can think of any other info for me please feel free to let me know.

In advance, thanks!

and if anyone from MADD reads this, know that i went to rehab for a month and AA and NA for a long time. I am not happy about my DWI, nor will I ever drive while intoxicated again, so please no lectures.

Sorry, but the book and all the bull they tried to pull on me in rehab was a bunch of hooey that didn't work for me. I wasn't asking what i should do about the program, i was asking DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A DWI IN DALLAS (HECK OR EVEN TEXAS) THAT CAN RELATE TO ME AND GIVE ME SOME ADVISE! nOT...... SHOULD I DO THE PROGRAM OR DID I DO THE PROGRAM LONG ENOUGH? I DIDN'T EVEN DO THE PROGRAM, MY WILL POWER HELPED ME AND MY WANT TO BE SOBER. NOT SOME STUPID PROGRAM THEY PUSH DOWN YOUR THROAT!!!! (NUF SAID, NOBODY SHOULD EVEN GET THESE POINTS!)

I am battling one in Dallas at the moment. Court date for me is 18th of this month. I know how you feel, support is hard to find for such a borderline offense. I refused tests and am battling this to the end.

I am 26 now when I was 18 I wrecked and fell asleep at a parking lot. Was takin to jail and charged with DWI, happened elsewhere in Texas. I was full of blood and hurt no one but myself. After I completed my 2 year probation period and 1 year license suspension plus AA and all those resititution fees was very hard for me to get a normal life again. I came out very tramatized by this event. Not the wreck, I felt hurt from my head, feeling sensitive to any type of hard contact with my head. The police never thought of taking me to the hospital. But I can say I did get back on my feet, attended college and graduated in 04' with a bachelors of Science with a 3.1 GPA.

Then came 05' as I was coming back from a promotion gathering at a buffalo wild wings. Me and the person who was promoted were just mingling and wishing each other luck in the future. When we spotted two police cars hawking out of the restaurant. At the time I had a very nice car. Let my friend know to watch out for the police hopes they wouldn't stop either one of us and give us a hard time. Well one of the police officers pulled in back of him for a sec or two, then passed sped up and got behind me then stopped me. The officer stated I drove passed a white line, which was not true and I commented. He made that up to get me in jail.

I was not drunk even have the video to prove it plus my friend was a former police officer who also vouches for me and is now my witness at trial set for 22nd. I was taken in although I passed my sobriety test. And charged with a DWI 2 and am having trial this month. I feel very bad for what I've been through, and feel I am being bullied so I decided to fight back. I have been through two lawyers in the past year. First withdrew after getting 3k$$$ out of me. Then hired another one who has been good to me soo far, is the mimi coffey firm. They are very professional and don't beat around the bush.

I was driving with a suspended driving license last August. Was charged with another DWI that night would make 3. My two buds who were with me, were to drunk to drive so I decided to drive us to Waffle House and well police officer said I smelled like alcohol, plus saw the breathlyzer in my car immediately was taken in for DWI. Again Oh my lord will this end. I feel DWI's are ways this state makes the majority of it's money, branded as sort of a witch. Those who have no money, will pay with jail time and turn out worse in the long run. It's all about $$$ my first lawyer told me before he withdrew. And I believe so, but no one is doing anything about it. 3k is the minimum a person will pay just for a plea with lowered punishment. Yet they serve wine, beer in restaurants and people indulge. DWI is a new kind of scarlet letter.

Okay chica listen, here's what's you need to do, you need to consult a lawyer.

Fact is they have put the DL's on automatic suspension, for alcohol related offenses.

They should have taken your DL and presented you with a piece of paper, pending the outcome of the trial. I believe that that lasts forty days, fact is you need to speak to a lawyer.

You really really really do not want to get a DWI on your record, because of costs from insurance and etc, plus the price of getting your license back is astronomical.

They've built the system very much against the offender in those cases in Texas of DWI's.

Fact is its only a Class B misdemeanor, but they've added more teeth to the statute in recent years. A lawyer can explain the DWI more fully to you and has much better chances of getting you off with a plea agreement with the DA's.
In which case you could avoid charges, and downgrade it to a Class A Deadly Conduct.
Deadly Conduct is a higher charge, but doesn't take away your license.
You could avoid having your license taken away, and still get punished without it costing you for a long-time.

And what is a "long time"? Been a member for 28 yrs, and have not gotten a DWI since, go back to the program, and read the book, and do the steps. But this time be honest!

my ex did (part of the reason we're exes is the drinking)

but it wasn't this year or last year. and it was his 2nd.

all I know is he had the machine in his vehicle to breathe into before he could start his vehicle.

Again - that was after his 2nd in 3 yrs.

I'm glad you have no intentions of repeating it. I'm so lucky I never got busted - and it could have been in dallas! Used to go to denim and diamonds a lot. It was on Park.
