My dentist told me it's caused by stress. I used to have a moderate case of it, but it went away after I changed jobs a couple of years ago. Maybe he doesn't need as drastic a change, but honestly it's much better now. Do your best to lower the amount of stress he experiences and it will help. Good luck to you both.

Yes I have TMJ all so.
When he feels it coming on the best thing to do is muscle relaxers. Tell the dentist to prescribe him some. ASprin, ibuprofen.
To help swelling in the jaw.
All so put a warm -moist towel on the jaw for about 15 minutes.

I have TMJ, i got mine from a damn car accident! go figure - learned to not bite my tongue again. But I don't have the symptoms your husband has, i would recommend going to your dentist who should be able to recommend him to a specialist. They can correct his "bite" and if need be they can do surgery to help ease the pain. I am not sure if he has done this already, but just a suggestion. And it's very painful, not fun at all.

i have this same problem, you need to have him see a dentist and they will do a fitting for a mouth guard, my dentist told me it is from grinding your teeth when you sleep. stress will sometimes cause a person to do that. the mouth guard has done wonders for me and try to find out of something is bothering him, theres stress in everyday life but sometimes little things can ease it some.

taking him to the doctor would be a GREAT first step....

nothing anyone says or does on here is going to help anything, so stop wasting your time and just take him to the doctor
