I believe that young people could care less about what's going on in the Middle East right now, but they're much more concerned about who won at the MTV Video Music Awards last night and they're also much more concerned about who's going to be the next American Idol. If it doesn't directly affect them, young people couldn't care less.

P.S.: I'm 38 and a veteran of two "operations" (Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom)

I think the majority do, but they have become so disillusioned that they don't actually support anybody. They basically just complain (and a few of the more radical ones become violent about it) because they don't know what else to do. For that matter, I don't know what else to do--neither major party has shown any competence in handling anything. The other parties can't even establish that much of what they believe, so how can they handle anything either. I think pretty much anyone of any age feels about that way now, though there are still some who believe it can be fixed.

For the record I am 25.

I don't think it's a case of not being interested, I think its more a case of not knowing what to do about it. I am 26years old from UK and since turning 18 I have voted once. It's not that I refuse to vote or refuse to use my voice but I have spent the last 8 years wondering what he hell to do with my vote. the run-up to elections is more like a pop idol/ american idol style popularity contest and all the candidates are saying anything to get your vote so I usually end up not voting. I am interested in politics and the things that happen in my country and the world but still feel uninspired to vote! whoever gets elected never represents the people like they promised! Now I'm getting boring. sorry, hope I've helped

Yes. When I was in college, there were people in the student body who wanted to run for positions on the local town council. There was also an active Young Democratics organization at the same college.

I'm 20, and I just think that the younger generation is not looking to get as involved or let it ruin relationships as much. This generation is one that seems less driven to conflicts and feel a litle more disconnected from the world than than previous generations that seemed to have issues bigger than themselves. When they help people it's not exactly tied to any belief in a group other than the fact that it's another human. It need not be someone they agree with or someone that they identify with, but someone who needs help. Quite different from our past...

I think YOUNG people definitely do Not care about politics. They Do care about LOVE, Clothes, Cars that parents can provide. They do not think that politics are people who decide their future for them, about hat they do need to care. And the future is not that far from now.

I'm 20.

they care, but are ot informed enough to really be interested. To them wither they like GW or they do not. The problem with politics is it is pointless to have an opinion as politicians are worried about what they percieve as common good and not what the American People percieve as the common good. For those of us who have figured that out already, we do not bother

From the looks of things, NO, they care more about American Idol. It's a real shame because this government is doing things that will effect them in years to come and they ought to exercise their rights to have a say in what's going on.

How young? Like... 3? No. 12? Most likely not. 16? Maybe. 19? Heck yes, that's when they go to college and find a cause for ANYTHING. College campuses are like a big political orgy.
