Sit very quietly, review your life as honestly as you can, if you feel you can do better - start right then; if you feel you can be more honest - start right then. When you hear a very soft whisper, or feel the gentlest of touches or a calmness - ask for GOD to be with you. Then decide a path to take, and GOD will be with you. Follow the foundations of faith and love your parents set and follow what your community taught you, be honest, and obey the laws, as you must do already - nothing outrageous - just be you.
Being you is what GOD wants - just be stronger, better than yesterday, and be involved in your family and community a little more. Do not do anything hypocritical, stay true to who you are!
I'm sure GOD is with you, it's the human interaction of religion to pick that complicates everything. Picking a church, or path will be hard, some are quiet, some are loud. Some have harder rules, others few. Start with your families choice, then see if you match.
I am Roman Catholic, so the structure of the mass that has developed is the same over the whole planet - the difference is the sermons, due to the humans. (Structure was me being polite - some find it very boring and there are many great jokes at our expense about mass. Very comforting for me, though.) Some sermons I leave, because I don't think agree with the person talking, not because of the church.
You will find comfort somewhere also. Really.

Buy a Bible... Be sure to get a contemporary English version - like the New King James Version - and get alone somewhere where you'd be undisturbed... Pray (talk) to God - explaining what You're doing and why you're there... Ask Him to make clear to you what you are about to read... Then, start reading the Gospel of John...

Take your time... Read slowly... These are the words of God and not to be glossed over nor taken lightly... Ask Him to make clear any passages you don't understand...

Attend a non-denominational Christian church and ask the Pastor for help... Most churches have classes before the worship service and you should be able to get some good help there...

Actually, the way it works is, God finds you...!

There once was a man who was seeking God. He became a follower of a well known holy man, hoping that he could find God by imitating this holy man. He dressed in simple rough clothing, slept on a straw pallet, and ate the meager diet of the holy man. He went with him everywhere so as not to miss an opportunity to find God. One day they were walking beside a river when the holy man asked him to kneel by the rivers edge and bow down towards the water. Obediently the seeker did as he was told. Suddenly the holy man grabbed him by the back of his neck and held him under water for what seemed like an eternity. The holy man proved to be too strong and the poor man could not prevail against him. When he was mere seconds from passing out, the holy man pulled him from the water and released him. After about a half hour of gasping and coughing and trying to regain his composure, he asked the holy man tearfully, "Father, why did you do this to me?" The holy man fixed him in his gaze and said, "When you want to find God and much as you just wanted air, you will find him."

I hope that helps you as much as it did me when I first heard it.

For myself it was about humility.

My life was very broken, but I was proud anyway. I had the dysfunction of thinking that I could handle everything on my own, even when it was obvious that I couldn't. My life was such a mess that literally nothing short of a miracle would get me back on track again.

While your life doesn't have to be a disater for you to find God, it is important to give an honest look in your heart so you can understand where you need him in your life. Because you do need him.

Everyone has a hole inside them that can only be filled by a good Relationship with your Creator. But people try to fill it up with other things and it leads to stress and even personal ruin.

Chances are there are things in your life you use as a substitute for God, trying to make yourself feel good. Take a honest look at your life, and your bad habbits, and try to understand what emotions they stem from.

A feeling of lonliness? unworthyness? shame? God can repair your broken heart. He calls you by name. He has known you since before you were knit in your mother's womb. Talk to him. He misses you.

God Bless.

You don't 'find' Him. If you believe in God, you will believe that he is in your heart always by your side.
I'm not a religious person, but for some people (with low education levels mostly) God represents their answer to any unanswered question and the hope they need in difficult moments.
So, for some who lost all their hope for various things, their interest in learning, the power to sup pass all obstacles and even the will to live, God and religion are the only things that keep them going and the only things they look up to and consider their reason for their life or
their death.
We can evolve without religion, but some consider life worthless or a burden without it.
I would do just fine with or without God, but other people just can't...
In the end, it is only a matter of believes.

The bible states that the earth belong to humans and the heavens to God Psalms 115:16. So it logical to say that God is in the heavens. But we can communicate to him through prayer a one way connection he hears our prayer and answer them.

I didn't know He was lost. lol Seriously though...Stop and .look around you. There are so many marvels in the world, from a bumble bee actually flying to a world spinning in just the right orbit around the sun to support life. Look at nature in all it's beauty, all it's intricacy. Can you honestly look at it and not see a creators hand?
That is where you start. Then go to His teachings and in awe read and incorporate what it says into your life. Meditate on His words and talk to Him about them and you and your thoughts and doubts. You have found Him.

Go look in the mirror and say high to him.

Stop judging people and realize that everyone is a part of God. You included.

It's less about "finding" God and more about realizing that he's always been there for you, all you have to do is wake up to it.
