If she is hard of hearing it would be foolish and unkind not to shout at her.

I believe it is. I mean raising your voice NOT your fists!!! I do NOT mean screaming & cussing. When you are passionate about something, even in a arguement I don't feel there is a problem raising your voice. My husband & I argue MAYBE once a year, MAYBE!!! I tend to raise my voice, but he just sits there & lets me go off, then he smiles & says, "Are you done now?" When I say yes we both just start laughing. This use to drive me nuts!!!! But over time, my husband's calming influence has helped me curb my tendencies toward getting REALLY P.I.S.S.E.D. off during an arguement like I did when I was younger.
But I think that one MUST "vent". You cannot stop up a bottle & shake it for very long before it blows. When it blows, it goes off in ALL directions, no control.
Besides, we live on a lot of property, if I didn't yell for the kids & their dad they wouldn't know it was meal time or what ever!!!!!!

Come on! some people communicate more loudly than others! Sometimes I shout at myself! My parents shouted at each other all the time. They have been married 30 years. (they are both hard of hearing!) lol "one of the disadvantages of always shouting?"

Come now.. you can answer that yourself... It is NOT healthy to SHOUT at your wife/husband/child/etc. Why not talk in civil tones and another thing.. shouting at your wife/husband in front of children is a no no anyway.. Shouting implies anger. doesn't it? So you can judge that for yourself.

There is a misconception that a heated argument is ungodly. If a person never shouts then go ahead and bury them because they are DEAD already.

Couples with good communication rarely shout (lets face it, we are all humans and sometimes....).
It is most UNhealthy to be in a relationship where your partner feels its ok to abuse you in any way.
BTW, shouting at your wife...Wrong and DANGEROUS!!! :-)

Healthy, probably not, normal? I am sure. We all shout from time to time and it is entirely normal.

It is not wise, safe or healthy. Think about it she will get even and you will go cross eyed waiting for her to get over it.
