Do it. If you are a good singer, and people think you are, as they have asked you to sing for them for an important event, you have nothing to be scared of.... Nervous, sure...but even Carrie herself gets that.

Be honored if you are religious know that you are soothing a soul that has just passed and not only that you will be soothing the souls of others who are mourning the death of their family member still. a funeral doesn't always have to be drab and bleek and you could be the one shining ray of light that these people will always remember for the rest of their lives when they finally said goodbye to someone they care about. You can really do it, everybody is scared about stuff like this, even professionals still get butterflies when they do big shows. Theres no tips that anyone can give you because its already inside you, just let it go.

Scared of what? The dead can't hurt you. Not only that...they can't hear you either. So why so scared? Or do you mean you're nervous.
If so that's natural. I think that it's quite an honor that the deceased's family has asked you to do this. I think you should sing. It's really the right thing to do and if it comforts the family then this is what you should keep in mind.

I have sung at 2 funerals now, both of them very personal to me as they were my grand parents. Like you I really felt that i couldn't do it, firstly because i was very upset and secondly because I was scared. Instead I recorded my voice with backing track and asked this to be played at the appropriate time, most churches or crematoriums agree to this as they have the incoming and outgoing music to play anyway! Hope this helps!

You defiently should. THis is a big deal to your parents and if you sing than it will mean a lot to them and to the rest of the people that are sorry about this death.

You should relax and do the best you can. If they asked you to sing I am sure they like your voice. Do not worry about sounded like someone else, just be yourself and give it your best effort. I sure everyone will be happy.

say no. sounds simplistic but theres no reason to put urself thru this. u sed "scared", and that sez a lot. im sure they'd understand. they cud just as easily throw on a CD. in fact, find the song on cd first, than tell em u got them the cd. they'll be grateful.
good luck and peace out.

Well, the decision is up to you, but you will do great I am sure. Think positively! I am sure you can sing great cuz they wouldn't ask you if not! It will be ok, Just think about happy thoughts and dont think about who is there!

If i were you, I rather not...the emotions are gonna be running deep even if you do or don't know the person...and if you scerw it up, its gonna look really bad to the dead person's family, for them it would be easy if the whole thing went smoothly...Just ask them if you can be of any other assistance to them
