If you are running windows XP,
you can go to start, then run, type msconfig and then click ok
this opens your system configuration window
click on the tab on the top right that says startup, this will give you a list of all the programs that are loading when your system boots. If you uncheck the entry, then it will not be included in your start-up. When you are finished, click apply, and then ok. It will then ask you to reboot your system. You can do it then, or wait, but the changes will not take affect until you reboot.
Also, when you reboot, when your system comes up, you will get a message saying you are using a different system configuration, just click in the box and say ok, and that will go away.
JUST becareful what you delete from your startup!!!!

Click Start, Click run, type in msconfig, click ok
When the dialog box comes up click the Startup tab, uncheck the programs you don't want to startup and click apply. Restart your computer. A dialog box will appear after the restart and in the bottom left hand corner check the box saying not to show this anymore. Hope this helps!

First, look in Start/Programs/Startup. Everything there initiates when Windows first comes up.
Next go to the Options or Properties menu for each item in your list. There is usually a check box which has been selected to begin the program at Startup.
Last go to the programs support page, therre should be helps there on how to remove from startup.
Good luck

click on start, click on run, type in msconfig in box, hit enter
then click on startup tab, then click disable all , hit ok, restart puter... should stop them from opening at start up at least in winNT or later......... or you can right click on the icon or open up the file and click on properties and go into preferences and look until find radio button or checkmark that says start when windows starts and just unclick it.
Also when downloading make sure to uncehck the boxes that say put an icon in the system tray and start up menu or that says start when windows opens or internet destected..
also click on tools when IE open then click on manage add-ons, then highlight the yahoo, msn, etc browser extension and then click on disable at bottom of box... this way they cant track or redirect your browser window... check this often especially if you download anything...be careful.... you do need some of these add ons but you dont need yahoo, google, aol, msn, or others like these ..... these are only tracking bars and just highjack your browser when your searching for something and redirect to the page on their sites so they make more money...
hope this helps

Go to Start ---> Run. Type msconfig. Click on Startup tab. This will show a list of the executables that load on start up. Uncheck the ones you don't want to run.

By going to start --> All Programs --> Startup, you can see some shortcuts. By deleting them, the programs wont run at start up. But not all programs will be listed there.
By opening the program Windows Defender, going to Tools --> Software Explorer --> Startup Programs, you can delete or disable all programs that open at start up.

Go to Control panel. Select task bar and start menu. You should be able to select which programs you want to start and which ones to remove from the start-up menu.
As for the Yahoo! messenger... when you login to check your email, there is a check box that you can uncheck regarding Yahoo! messenger.
Hope this helps and have a great day!!!

I don't know where all the AOL goobers came from trying to answer this question........but they are all WRONG. The latest version of Yahoo messenger STILL loads in system tray when "Automatically start..." is unchecked. There is no longer an item for Yahoo in the Start up section of MSCONFIG.
Yahoo want's to load......who cares about the user.........it's going to load. True, it does not "sign in" but still loads when you tell it not to. Forget this piece of crap. I dumped Norton when it knew what I wanted better than me, and wasted resources.....now I'm gonna dump Yahoo. Back to ICQ..............at least it only loads when you want it, and isn't QUITE up to the amount of bloated crap Yahoo is.
