What's best for ME is electrical, because it's what I do. That doesn't make me think that electical engineering is any better or more important than civil engineering; they are both vital to our American way of life. If I assume correctly that what you're really asking is what would be best for yourself, then you won't get the answer here. I'm doing what I've had a passion to do since I was a kid, and it makes going to work everyday a lot more enjoyable. If you can make money following your dreams, then you're on the right track. If you just want to make money doing something you really don't care about, and I know a few decent engineers who do just that, then toss a coin and pick something.

electrical. What the hell is civil engineering anyway. The word ENGINEering implies the use of some sort of an ENGINE. So such thing as civil engineering. Maybe civil bickerin' about?

They both depend upon and complement each other. One wouldn't really exist without the other, although in terms of "importance", you might say that civil engineering exceeds electrical engineering in this respect because of its long history. However, advances in one discipline ultimately permeate and foster growth in others - the development of civil engineering would not have been possible without the advent of computers and a continuation of better systems, and human life would not be so enjoyable without the great civic projects that allow us to take subways, or drive from one island to another.

Not sure what the syllabus covered in the electrical engineering in different schools.
But if your degree covers the similar subjects as electrical and electronics.
Boy, you are in for a treat. If you study hard and learn everything well, you can explain and understand everything in you house, in your car and every thing that uses electricity and on the market.
You will always be thinking about building your own gadgets and try to pattern the latest technology all day long.
Does that sound exciting or what ?!

If you're thinking about a career, you'd better not rely on the silly answers you've been getting on this forum. Obviously you know any kind of engineering will require a lot of math, so that had better be an interesting subject for you. Above all, engineers converts the work of scientists in chemistry, physics, material science, etc. into working reality. Oversimplified? Yep, but that's the kind of thinking you need to put into your career choice.

Civil engineering. I designed Lego buildings as a kid and now real ones. How many electrical engineers can drive by something and point out to their kids that they designed it? None. Its the "I did that" factor that makes civil engineering so great.

Hmm. . . well.
Civil Engineering -- make bridges.
Electrical Engineering -- make computers.
You decide.
