They should always be watched, at night you should crate them but do it safely. Take off all collars, make it comfy and put in toys. Let them out right before bed and first thing in the morning.

I agree with Heather, this is the same method I used on my dogs until they learned that mommy's floor was not a good place to go. Also you might have to put up with alittle noise at first because they might not like being crated. Reassure them with cookies, toys, and treats! Never use your crate as a (punishment or they will be afraid of it.) Make sure it is big enough for them to turn around in it. (I recommend each of them having their own crate unless they are very small, and absolutely couldn't handle being separated.) Consistency is Key! Just like potty training a toddler, you have to do the same thing over and over! They will eventually catch on! Good luck!
*Until then, invest in a high quality steam cleaner! lol...

Assuming they never did this before, there is a good chance there is a medical problem causing this. Changes in bathroom habits should always be taken seriously. After that's ruled out...take the dogs out for a longer potty break right before bed, don't give them water overnight, and either crate them or wakeup every few hours to take them out.

They may have some infection that is causing them to have to go more often. They should be checked out by a vet.

If that is not it, they may need to be crated. You could try letting them out last thing at night and then first thing in the morning. If that doesn't work, you would have to crate them at night.

We put our dogs in a crate at night. It is very comfortable for them because they both have a chew toy, a soft dog bed to sleep on and a large towel to snuggle with. If they are peeing or pooping in their crate, then their crate it is too large and you need a smaller one. Dogs don't usually go where they lay...

Try using the puppy training pads...they are reasonable and it only took us about a week and our two chihuahua's and baby basset hound use the pads religiously...Patience and love will go a long way in training them....
