"Dr. Aroup Chatterjee, the author of "Mother Teresa: The Final Verdict" (2003), assserted that the public image of Mother Teresa as a helper of the poor, the sick, and the dying was misleading and overstated; the number of people who are served by even the largest of the homes is not nearly as large as westerners are led to believe."

I don't really think there's much point in putting out effort towards changing our attitude about Mother Teresa. Even if she didn't really do much good, she's obviously among the least of our worries. Wouldn't your efforts be better directed against someone like Osama bin Laden, or Karl Rove? Or better yet, towards getting the U.S. House of Representatives out of right-wing control this November? That'd do a LOT more good than denigrating Mother Teresa, even if she deserves it.

OK, but the number of people she helped isn't the issue for me. She devoted her life to helping people on a daily basis, lived a life of service to others, and in doing so, sacrificed a different life she could have had, in being a mother, wife, business woman, painter, whatever. She's still a remarkable woman who deserves people's respect.

I tend to believe it. Mother Teresa was an adroit public relations expert. She needed donations. That is not saying I don't think she did good.

I have seen first hand pictures of the people that she cared for and talked with people that worked there.

She was an amazing woman who took care of those that no one else would have, the ultimate gift to humanity.

To trash her name because people don't like Catholics is sad. I am embarrassed for them.

Peace!

I htink we humans see the meaninglessness of things and we respond by creating belief systems, mythologies, hero characters, etc. to give our life meaning. Mother Theresa is part of one hero mythology/belief system.

good qoute; mother t. raised countless millions for the catholic church, but did she build a modern hospital for the poor and sick in india? no! all she did was comfort them and try to convert them to become christian instead of trying to solve the problem!
-here's a blanket, now die in peace- , thanks a bundle mother t.
