Exercise and eat right.

Turn your body into a metabolic furnace.

1. Eat sensibly throughout the day.
- Don't Skip Beakfast. This is the meal that jumpstarts your body in the morning.

- Protiens, fats and fiber digest slowly. Have some with each meal, staying away from saturated fats.

- Have a small snack between each meal. This will keep you off the blood sugar rollercoaster. Naturally sweet fruits like apples and pears are good. So are combinations like peanut butter and celery. Experiment and find out what works for you.

- It's been said before, but I'll repeat it here: drink plenty of water. Part of what we feel as hunger is really slight dehydration. Stay hydrated. Several rules of thumb exist. I go by 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight. Yes, every day.

2. Exercise.
- Cardio has it's place in your fitness schedule, but cardio primarily burns calories while you're exercising. Weight lifting (resistance training, etc.) maintains the muscle tissue you have (supported by the additional protien in your diet) and builds more muscle. When energy becomes scarce the body finds it easier to metabolise protiens (muscle tissue) than stored bodyfat. Muscle is an active tissue that burns energy all the time.

- Dumbbells are a great way to start out. They are small, relatively inexpensive, and work the smaller stabilizing muscles that bars and machines can neglect. Concentrate on maintaining good form, sloppy technique can hamper progress at best and cause serious injuries at worst. Increase the weights as you can handle them. Don't be afraid to test your limits occasionally.

- Body-weight exercises such as pushups and squats (while holding a door frame or something else to stabilize you) are good ways to work large muscle groups without any equipment at all. The rules about maintaining good form still apply.

3. Set realistic goals and reward yourself when you reach them.
- A new pair of slacks when you reach a certain size, sure. A big fudge sunday, so be it. They're your goals, they're your rewards.

4. Don't become discouraged.
- Whatever shape you're in now, you took a while to get there. It will take some time to get where you want to be. Make gradual changes in your diet (eating system), work the weights in on a consistant basis.

- Don't beat yourself up for not being perfect. If you have a lapse in your program, get back to it. Another rule of thumb: It takes 21 days to create or break a habit, good or bad. You're making a change to your lifestyle, not your hairstyle. Don't expect it to be instant or easy.

- Try not to stare at the scale. The mirror and the fit of clothes you haven't worn in a while are better indicators of progress than a scale (remember, muscle weighs more than fat).

I am on such a journey myself. I wish you much success. Remember to focus on what you want. When you concentrate on the goal, the obsacles don't seem so tough. What the mind can believe, the body can achieve (sounds corny, I know, but very, very true).

Top weight loss tips

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

You might be interested in checking out a new weight management program called Cinch.

On most diets, you lose muscle, as well as fat. When you lose muscle, you lose some of your body's ability to burn fat, and your metabolism drops.

The doctor, nutritionists, and scientists at this company drew upon years of sports and nutrition science to create an easier and healthier plan. In a recent preliminary clinical trial, the scientists tested a proprietary formula enhanced with the amino acid leucine. People in the program lost fat, weight, and inches while retaining 100% of their lean muscle.

Hope this is helpful and if interested in finding out more about this program, feel free to contact me for the website.

Don't go on a "diet" -- that's a sure-fire way to lose a lot of weight rapidly, but then gain it back. (I know from many years of experience!) Just try to make small changes in your life and make them for the long haul, not some short term "I'm gonna stop eating ____ or start doing _____ until I reach ___ lbs on my scale." That is the approach I am taking. I've previously lost lots of weight with radical dieting and with a pre-determined time scale in mind (once for a high school reunion and once for a cruise). But once the events and my "diet" were over, I put the weight back on.

Now I am trying to make small, permanent life changes, with no set time frame. For example, since April I have switched from whole milk to non-fat milk, and I get off one stop later on my train ride to work, which makes me have to walk a little farther to my office. I've dropped about 15 lbs. so far just from those changes. I'm going to try to maintain this weight for a couple of months, then see what other small changes I can add **and that I can live with on a permanent basis**.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Crash diet is wrong but, there is a safer way of doing that.

quite honestly I've never been able to mantain crash diet. The reason is because when you decide your going on a crash diet you have the will power to do it, but when you get really hungry you lose that will power.

So all you have to do is eat a little bit at each meal. but don't eat junkfood. Eat maybe an apple for breakfast, a 1/4 of salad for lunch,and maybe a little bit of meat for dinner. This way you can
maintain a crash diet and keep the will power to do it.-hope this helps!!

well what I do before I eat is drink a full glass of water before my meal that way I get full faster and eat less and I do not eat after 5 or 7 at night that way when I go to sleep food wont sit in my stomach. you know! Also I don't drink regular sodas I only drink diet at first it was hard to get used to it but now I cant tell the difference. This is what I do and it helps me even know I am thin and what to stay that way that's why I have continued to eat that way.
