With all the Back stabbing, lieing, deceit, hypocrisy and hate that flies around the christian communities, and with all the confusion with in the christian community itself as far as doctrine is concerned; would Jesus be ashamed to call himself a christian?

Would the Christian community even recognize such a humble being as one of their own? What if Christ didn't act the way the Christian Community project's he will? Will they then denigh that he is the Christ as the Jews did at his first advent?

What if Christ, on his second coming said to the world, that anyone who promoted slander against other faiths was not numbered amoung his people. Would you be scared at that point? Or would you still feel so comfortable.

This idea is no so far fetched, It's happened once before.

Jesus was well aware that his followers would be imperfect and many would become hypocrites (Judas is a prime example). I doubt he would be shocked by the state of the world today. Jesus himself implies that few people will choose the path of salvation.

In any case, when Jesus comes again, everyone will notice because it will be the Last Judgment. He's not coming back in a hidden way like he did the first time. He's coming back as the Lord and judge of all people. And there will be people who think he will judge them favorably who will be in for a nasty surprise (see the parable of the sheep and the goats).

The comment about slander is not a "what if" scenario. Slander, whether it is about another religion, or another person, or anything is a serious sin. Faithful followers of Jesus should already know this.

Jesus was a liberal Jew, not a Christian. I don't think (according to Christian theology) he can be his own Lord and Savior, which is the acid test of Christianity. In general, the people who follow Christianity now are no different in nature than those who thoughtlessly followed the inherited religions of the cultures of the past. The ancient Roman who denied Christianity as an upstart cult is the same as the modern Christian who denies other religions now, more concerned about fitting in to something than living up to something.

Christ would not call Himself a Christian. He is Christ, our Savior. He is not a follower, He is our Strength.
One thing to remember is that Christ knows that His followers are only human; not perfect, only saved. He knows our struggles, including in our behavior with those of other faiths. He knows our failings in understanding of our differences.
Would He be disappointed in us, undoubtedly. But again, understanding of our shortcomings, if we ask Him for forgiveness.
There would those who would be cast aside from His presence. There have always been those who have professed to be Christian when they were not. He has never been fooled by their claims.
Being a Christian isn't about denomination or doctrine. It's about being a follower of Christ's teachings and those of His disciples. This simple realization would change and enlighten many, many followers. Christ isn't about religion.

No, Jesus would not be ashamed to be called Christian or Christ-like since he sets the perfect example of how we should live.

Would he approve of everyone who calls themselves Christian? No, read his words at Matthew 7:21-23. There will be those that claim to belong to him, and yet he will disown them.

To be Christian means to follow in his footsteps. If we don't then, how can we be called Christian?

I don't think anyone can actually answer this question. No one knows what Christianity was like when he was here. Even though we have the Bible that was a group of peoples ideas, not an account off all history. I think any God would be ashamed of what the world has come to.

Jesus wouldn't "call" Himself anything. Jesus would be Jesus. But, would some of today's Christians even recognize Him? that's the better question, and a legitimate point.

No he would not beashamed to call himself a Christian. He would no doubt be ashamed of most of the other people who wander around abusing that title.

It is far fetched. Christ is never going to touch foot upon the earth again. He is coming in a cloud.

Christ isn't a Christian, Christ was a Jew...

Christ is Christ... talk about confused people.

Technically, he was Jewish, so he probably wouldn't call himself Christian to begin with. He would be ashamed of what has been done in his name, yes.
