Number of employees has nothing to do with "salary".

If you were working by the hour, I presume you made regular wages, time and a half, and/or double time. Depends on the employer in some cases. Unions are different.

In any event, on salary, one could work that many hours with NO EXTRA PAY. Salary is a fixed income whether one works less or more hours at any given time.

As far as I know, you don't have to have any employees under you. It is the companies discretion as to if you are "hourly" or "salaried".
