Healthy, well balanced. I lost almost all my baby weight while breastfeeding. I stayed at around 1800-2000 good calories a day, exercised (try fit mama postnatal workout dvd) and drank a whole lotta water. The weight was gone in no time. The baby will take about 300 calories a day in milk from you, and excercise will do its part as well. Your milk may taste bad to baby after a work out with weights from lactic acid buildup. If you get tired, or if your baby's behavior changes, slow down the diet. Double check your plan with your OB- he'll be helpful too.

Check out The Abs Diet. It's a common-sense approach to weight loss that doesn't involve calorie counting, exotic meals, restricting entire food groups, or eating foods that will raise your blood pressure and cholesterol. You can buy the book at any major book store, and it's hard to miss -- the cover is bright orange. Best of all, it's 100% safe and you get to "cheat" once a week by eating whatever you want. Definitely worth a look.

Contrary to popular belief breastfeeding does not cause you to loose weight. It is the same as when you are not breastfeeding... your weight depends on calories consumed and calories burned. Talk to your OBGYN or even your baby's Pediatrician for advice on creating the best plan for you to loose weight. This should include an exercise plan and a proper nutrition plan both of which are healthy and maintainable for you and the baby.

Low calorie diets are bad. Losing weight fast is not recommended, but if you have a trainer like on "the biggest loser" you could probably do it. The formula that the experts use is moderate calories and probably 10x more activity/exercise than you normally do. You have to build up your indurance for the first couple weeks though. It's hard work, no shortcuts.

A balanced diet that helps you lose weight slowly and still gives your baby all the nutrition it needs. The best thing to do would be to talk to your doctor or the baby's and ask one of them to recommend one for you.

There is a plan called Shapeworks. I lost 95 lbs in 8 months using it. Most of the products are stimulant free, so it is perfect for the nursing mom, and it works. Here is where I found it: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward
PS, congrates on the new baby

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. Here is how it works. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.
But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.
So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Remember the above (not on site) and see site below to re-learn how to eat so you can be thin and fit for life.
