I was just curious. It may sound mean or whatever, but I took my two girls off the bottle at 9 months old. They had sippy's with the line that shows the ounces, so they still got formula. and it did not upset them, and they took to it with no problems. I have seen 3 year olds with bottles in their mouths, and I do not agree with it. But as the saying goes.....different strokes, for different folks.

First off.....eww to leabone's comment. That is just sick. I would turn her in! That is no different than if she was still producing milk. I have heard of 5(or older), still doing that!!! EWWW!

Wow a mom who has sense. I took my children off around 8-9 months also because this is when they cut their first teeth. There are too many children having to have their teeth pulled at 3 because their parents think it's fine to let them keep their bottles. I'm also with you on this one. I don't agree with people doing it but the kids don't know any better it's up to the parents to be smart for them.

I took my daughter off right before her first birthday. I thougt about doing it earlier, but decided to wait until she was closer to one, but had a lot of comments that that was too young :0 I introduced a sippy at 6 months, but I only gave her juice out of that. I gradually reduced the amount of formula and then just took it away and replaced it with whole milk in her sippy. I too do not agree with a three year old drinking milk out of a bottle. I also agree with you that it is up to the mother to raise their child how they feel is best.

12 months, but I started her on the sippy cup around 9 months, so she was only having a bottle maybe 2 times a day from 9 months to 12 months.
She didn't care one thing about that bottle --thank goodness !!

I started my son on a soft top sippy at 6 months. He took it with no problem. I agree with you on the kids that are over the age of 1 shouldnt be on any bottle.

I wean my baby off the bottle at 15 months old, I wanted to wean earlier but my pedi told me that 15 months was okay because she still needed the formula until about 12 months. She was drinking 2% milk after 12 months. I also think that parents that let their 3 or 4 years old have bottle should be reported to CPS because they are hurting them in the long run .

11 months and four days. She never cried for it, just put them away and gave her a sippy cup all day. I agree with the 3 or 4 year old running around with a bottle...or a pacifier for that matter!

My daughter was off the bottle at 12 months. At 6 months she would take a tippy cup with juice (she got 4 oz a day). When she turned 12 months she started getting milk in her tippy cup and juice in a cup with a lid and straw. Now that she's 15 months she gets only a cup with a lid and straw. She still takes formula and gets cows milk along with juice.

Both of my boys went off the bottle at about 1 year. That's early enough but not so late that they get unnaturally attached to it. I know people who let their kids have bottles til they're like three and four. Crazy, in my opinion.
